Actually it says to give but especially to those in the faith. The ignorance of scripture is astounding on the Left

I don't believe they are really Catholic. I think they say that to get elected.

It's because far left liberals have replaced Jesus with government. They worship the government and instead of taking care of the poor and downtrodden they look to the government to do it for them. They don't actually care about those people any more than conservatives do like they claim
Some people say they don't believe in God. But everyone and I do mean everyone worships something.

Where do you think Jesus would stand on abortion?
Abortion doesn’t change that the earthly Jesus was a radical progressive. Where do you think Jesus stands on the death penalty?

It’s closer than most think. Like 37% (D) to 41% (R)

People who say that are just evading responsibility. Everyone comes from a lineage of thousands of years from whichever belief system they come from. It’s ingrained in your makeup, in your value system. You can’t just decide to ignore it just because you went to college and listened to some radicalized clown. People who do that tend to be miserable.

Biden, Colbert, Pelosi, Newsome Even in my own personal life at my parish. There are a number of people who outright support the entire Democrat party line (abortion, alphabet stuff, race politics, feminism, etc) all of which is in direct opposition to the Church’s teachings. Even with signs out from of Church that say to end abortion, they walk in anyways believing the opposite. I’m sure there is this same phenomenon in a lot of Protestant churches as well. I just never understood why these people still want to do the church thing with all of these opposing viewpoints?
I’m a practicing catholic , flawed, a sinner , but someone who wants to revert back to a more reverent church, despite my many religious and moral shortcomings
Unfortunately, many people in the faith treat Catholicism as a cultural phenomenon - like reform Jews
They’ll send their kids to catholic school, even be practicing active members in the parish but pick and choose certain moral teachings to follow I.e IVF, birth control , taking communion in a state of mortal sin etc
They are a big part of my social network and while Catholicism is the one true church, we have an issue of practicing it the way it’s intended to be practiced

Considering he was executed by the death penalty and willingly went, you tell me what his views are? Your understanding of Jesus is at a cartoonishly elementary level

I think part of the reason Catholics are collectively more liberal than protestants is because for a good number of Catholics its a cultural identity rather than having real faith
Catholics have always been more dog and pony show
Catholics have always been more dog and pony show

Watching a leftist talk about Christianity is like watching AOC explain finance.

He certainly wasn't a "progressive" in the modern sense of the word.

Liberals (and Jesus) believe in helping the poor. Republicans say the poor are "takers." Republicans sayit is SOCIALISM anytime you want to help the poor! Republicans say cut USAID. Liberals (and Jesus) believe in supporting immigrants. Republicans want ICE officers in masks to round up brown people and send them anywhere. Build a Wall! Jesus supported liberal causes.
Nah.
Conservatives help the poor through charity. Liberals rob the taxpayer to pay their lazy constituents.

The Bible says a man ought not lay with another man.

One of the libtard commandments is “robbing Peter to pay Paul”.

Jesus never condemned the death penalty.
The Old Testament is pretty clear on this issue:
quote:
Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made mankind.
Oh... and so is the New Testament:
quote:
For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

According to Mark 14:7 Jesus stated: The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.
Jesus gives US a choice.
Romans 13:1-7 states, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves...."
