Don’t buy any lies from the limp wrists. They don’t.

The DOJ even has to follow protocol to get IRS information. It’s protected by IRC 6103 and the privacy act.

Regardless of the merits of this issue, the fact that Elon wants X to be a payment processor and is gaining access to tax info, payment info, and potentially your banking info, is a real campaign issue that Dems will run on. Does anyone want Zuck or Bezos or Soros getting to your data in any way? In a court briefing, a DOJ attorney could not assure a judge that this information did not leave Treasury. That's a real problem.

I do love that the right suddenly 100% trusts the government.

This is where I draw a line. The government must not ever get their hands on my personal information that I send to the government!!!!

Exactly. And for what? Doge can’t really effectuate much change, given that the expenditures it’s poking around make up about 5% of the total federal budget. It’s a dog and pony show.

Check for yourself. DOJ has to get a court order for information.

Are you concerned about thousands of IRS agents, SSA employees, etc having that info? What makes them more special than other auditors under the supervision of the executive branch?

This looks a lot like the rationalization the Republicans were doing over the Patriot Act back in '01.

So you are saying Elon Musk is trying to access my bank account? Why?

And how do I know a Treasury Department Clerk isn't taking pics of his computer screen with my info on it?

And what's the difference between Musk and that clerk ? Except that Musk has a security clearance?

This is silly shite.

Exactly. There are thousands of unelected bureaucrats with access to my information

When I was in public audit, specifically working with hospital networks and local government audits, I had access to personnel files, SS numbers, bank account numbers, and detailed individual medical files. All of which, of course, necessary to audit these entities per my contract.

I never was once elected to do my job. I was hired.

This whole "unelected" line of reasoning by the left is such utter bullshite and the people eating it up are total morons. Its frustrating.
