I just don't find his interviews/show very interesting.

Obviously a lot of people do.

He went to LSU and used to write a column in the Reveille . I never thought it was very funny. He was kinda known back then from being on the Real World or one of those reality shows.

It was painfully unfunny. I remember being like "this dude is a douche".

Now here we are almost 25 years later and he's a genuine baw's baw.

Ace,

I thought Roland was Theo’s dad, and he ran that place into the ground via, essentially, a Ponzi scheme. Then he killed himself.

ETA: looks like it was his half-brother

Wtf? He's the most effortlessly funny person I've ever seen.

you dont say, It pretty obvious the level he talks is an exaggerated act.

Yeah, that's sort of the totality of his schtick. He doesn't even strike me as trying to pretend otherwise.

He's not my complete cup of tea either (I can take him in bits and pieces), but I feel like his whole point is sort of being "contrived casual,"

I thought he went to Mandeville High?

Went to St. Paul's and Mandeville. I believe St. Paul's first then Mandeville. If he went to Mandeville with a Covington address that means he lived in the part of Covington south of I-12.

This isn't the official family position. Officially, they say the old man was Theo's dad, Theo, Sr., and that Roland and Theo are half brothers.

Yeah, his "Theoisms" column in the Reveille was pretty terrible. That was definitely not the medium for him to showcase whatever it is that he has that makes him money.

Ten four. As usual in Louisiana, it’s uh, complicated.

I always accepted the story with a grain of salt. The old man was pushing 70 when Theo was born (and they did name him after the old man). He has definitely joked about the age. I don't recall him talking about Roland.

Agree 100%
im a bit out of the loop on current podcasters/comedians and was surprised to learn he'd gotten as big as he is now. He's come a long way from the terrible newspaper column to hanging out with Trump and millions of listeners. I listened to the one with JD vance and it was very well done. i guess his humor doesnt translate into print as well.

I know this… the day Roland jr. died there were quite a few people in the Nola music scene that were not that sad to see him go.

He was an intramural flag football referee at LSU. He is comedy style is interesting to me. He is extremely funny but I’m not sure if it is completely on purpose/an act.
