I agree with her, but at the same time she advocates for student loan forgiveness when she holds like 50k of student loans, so she isn't exactly free of conflict of interest on many issues she fights for

Sure but if you agree with her on this issue, you should ally with her to enact the desired policy outcome.
You can't purity test your way to getting your policies enacted; how has that worked for the big brained libertrians?

I do advocate that members of Congress shouldn’t be able to trade at all nor be able to hold anything outside of index funds tracking with one of the major indices. I'd side with her 100% on this issue, I just think she is a bit hypocritical with this stuff.

"Pelosi & her husband": according to FOX News, the same week that biden shut down the pipeline, she & her husband made 2 purchases of Tesla stock, one of $500 K & one for a cool million. Paying for her $25,000,000 retirement mansion in Fla. they just bought.

Let me paraphrase this….AOC is announcing to the corporate world she wants her piece of the pie and has opened up the bidding process for any and all corporate entities.
This......actually makes A Lot of sense. typical leftist making a play to get theirs.

I'll be the devil's advocate here and say that she's too stupid to know that members of congress have to file special paperwork to buy and sell stocks and the SEC monitors it, that's how lots of people got busted in early 2020.
How did they get busted? Nothing happened to them.
quote:
Yesterday, reporters revealed the Department of Justice had discontinued the investigations into coronavirus-related trading by Senators Kelly Loeffler, James Inhofe, and Dianne Feinstein (whose holdings are in a blind trust). The three Senators each had sold—and in Senator Loeffler’s case, bought—large amounts of stock the same day or soon after a confidential senatorial briefing on January 24 by the CDC’s Director and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
In fact, no one has ever been busted.
quote:
Federal authorities, however, never have prosecuted a member of Congress under the STOCK Act
Yes, there is a law that they have to file paperwork about their trades. But the time they are allowed to file this means it does no one else any good except to say after that fact “wow, this person seems to make some really well-timed trades!”
There is also this issue:
quote:
The Constitution provides that members of Congress “for any Speech or Debate in either House . . . shall not be questioned in any other Place.”
So they can make trades on insider info, report it 45 days later and if anyone happens to piece that information together, it doesn’t matter anyway because the congressperson can’t be questioned, subpoenaed or searched based on any actions related to their congressional business.
Congress wrote the law that made insider trading illegal for members of Congress... Of course they wrote it in a way so that it is essentially useless. That same also applies to the executive branch, so I don’t see them pushing to enforce a law with no teeth either.

True. She'll change her tune when she have money to invest in high value stock.
