1. Welcome
2. The vaccine does not use a live attenuated virus, it uses a nucleic acid vectored construct (mRNA). In very simple terms, they build a fake version of the virus (think of it as the difference between actual roadkill and a roadkill prop made for a movie, at least that's how I understand it). In other words, the infection which got passed around your pride was coincidental in timing but absolutely did not come from the injection.

Both my mother and father in law got covid after their first round of shots. I believe mom got Pfizer and FIL got moderna. Purely anecdotal but does make you wonder.

I see this story over and over. My wife will have to decide in the next few weeks if she wants to continue being a nurse and get the vaccine. I'm afraid this is what will happen to us as well.

Thank you all for the welcoming comments! I might have to retract my statement regarding how y’all harass new members! I know people on this board are decent for the most part, regardless of political persuasion, and I’m grateful to have this outlet to converse with decent people on every side. Discourse and varying opinions is what makes for tantalizing conversation. And respectful conversation is what I’m here for!
