No one knows the amount of child support that he is paying, because that figure is apparently under seal. What we do know is that he is probably current on that child support, because Lunden has not filed a motion to enforce or for contempt.
But let’s just look at some hypothetical numbers. Let’s say that he was earning 50,000 a month, and that his child support was set at 10,000 a month based upon that figure. Now, let’s assume that his income drops to 30,000 a month. As a percentage of his income, his support obligation has increased from 20% of his income to 33% of his income.
He also has four other children.
Is there even one single person on this forum who would not move for modification, if his child support figure for 1/5 of his kids were suddenly 33% of his income, rather than 20%?
Precisely BECAUSE we do NOT know either what he is earning or what his current child support obligation might be, it seems a little premature to be bashing the guy for seeking a modification.
But let’s just look at some hypothetical numbers. Let’s say that he was earning 50,000 a month, and that his child support was set at 10,000 a month based upon that figure. 10,000 out of 30,000 is 33%.

If he is no longer earning that money, his child support obligation should be lower. Child support is based upon earnings, not upon the source or whether the father is a good person.

I’d like to think if I was ever the most powerful man in the world and had a lifetime of wealth grafted from the public, I’d at least want to know my granddaughter and make sure that she was taken care of.
