At this point. When he initially won I thought Mississippi was about to sink even further but with job growth and education he’s decent not great but not bad. I was expecting just more of Phil Bryant.

I know TD has a large MS presence.

I know nothing really about Miss politics but they’re the state that brought the case that eventually brought down Roe yes? I imagine that was before his time. Regardless all I hear from people who would know is it has its bad parts but most of the state is in the upper echelon of USA in terms of your rights being protected. Could be totally wrong though. For as much as this board hates Kemp, blindly too much imo, he has kept GA this same way although you could make an argument voting rights not so much if you’re inclined

He is much different than Phil Bryant, always has been. Phil is a great campaigner, great at speeches and talking one on one. Not a policy guy and will never be the first or second smartest guy in the room.

Tate is an introvert and is weak at public speaking. Understands policy and has a backbone. Gets called a jerk a lot but when he needs to say no, he can say no. His crew is much more ethical than Phil Bryant's. Phil was weak and there were too many around him who worked angles and he allowed them to do it. Phil also left behind a bunch of ticking time bombs. The prison riots at MDOC, the DHS scandal, and now the Highway Patrol scandal because he just had to install Marshall Fisher as DPS Commissioner and run off the remaining good ones in leadership.

Tate reopened the state pretty quickly from Covid lockdowns as well.

What many don't realize is there are two crowds in the GOP: THE Haley Barbour bunch and the Phil Bryant bunch. They don't like each other, and I mean really don't like each other. Tate inherited the Barbour faction.

As for Dobbs decision, Reeves was Leftenent Governor when the law passed. In Mississippi, the LG runs the Senate and appoints the chairmen. Phil signed the legislation so that was a team effort.

He lied to me about the flag. So, although I generally agree with him, I will never forget that.

The stealing of the flag from the people of Mississippi is unforgiveable.

Who gives a shite about a symbolic state flag? It's the one small bone he threw to the politically correct mob. And most of us conservatives were fine with that. I like the new flag better anyway.

He consistently makes the right decisions about the substantive issues that actually affect us: Resisting prolonged Covid BS; Resisting the Woke and LGBTQ madness; Facilitating multi-billion dollar business expansion with thousands of great new jobs; Supporting pro-life issues; Eliminating the income tax, etc.

As others have said, the flag issue I was not really happy about , but also… I can’t think the last time I noticed the new flag and got triggered by it. I’ve moved on

My big thing is he’s outspoken about not putting up with hyper woke shite and not letting trannies compete with girls.

That alone keeps a lot of the blue haired people away where they avoid the state at all costs bc it’s not tolerant for them and they still view it as Jim Crow era rampant racism throughout which of course it’s not .

That’s just fine by me.

My life is great here and other places are slowly sliding away ( looking at you Georgia.. be careful what you wish for by importing all those woke idiots in)

We are climbing up slowly the state rankings and education is not an overnight fix but we are vaulting up with the literacy rates for kids and that is an accomplishment

Thank god Mississippi got a new flag. Clearly not representative of 100% of Mississippi. I really don’t care about replies that disagree but the old flag needed to go.

Well, you're about to see Medicaid Expansion pass and the Senate will probably kill school choice.

He will veto Medicaid Expansion although there are the votes to override. He would approve school choice if it got to his desk. It won't.

Lowered the cost of vehicle plates in the state, bringing in thousands of new, high paying jobs, getting rid of income tax. If he can get the day lights saving bill done, I'm very happy.

Yes it is when most of the people that are wanting it are leeches on society. They want to keep hospitals open in towns that's are losing population and everything in the town has deteriorated but hey let's pump millions into hospitals that are losing money instead of making people drive 1 hour away

And to answer your original question. Tate is a pompous douche bag that has been a decent governor. I'm curious to see who will take his place in a few years

Get over it. The old flag needed to go. And the new one actually looks good.

From a distance, it seems like Tater is doing a good job of balancing red meat social issues with actual effective conservative leadership when it comes to government

If Landry can copy his playbook, Louisiana will be in good shape.

I did not vote for Tate in the primary but have been pretty pleased with him. I honestly can’t think of one thing he has done. I have never been more proud to be a Mississippian than recently. We have our problems but do appear to be on the uptick

Saved Jackson's water system when it crashed. Stood up to the Mayor on crime and gave us Capitol Police.
