Absolutely. In a sane political world, Republicans would have been willing to help strengthen and improve the law to bring your premiums down. As it is, they've done the opposite.

You say this all of the time, but you rarely (if ever) provide an actual idea/plan for what specifically can be done with the ACA to make substantial dents in the premiums of most Americans. Let's say Republicans were totally on board with making changes to Obamacare, what changes should be made?

And higher taxes on the rich, single payer, etc. is not an answer.

Thanks to the ACA that won't do any good. Employers offering family coverage are few and far between, and if they offer individual coverage, his mom is ineligible for subsidies even if they don't offer spousal coverage. It's known as the Obamacare "glitch", although I believe it was deliberate.

The problem isn't the AHCA or anyone's work ethic. The ACA is the root of the problem.

Lazy is the last word I would use to describe my dad.

Being married to the same woman for over 40 years and not leaving her side is something we should all strive for.

They own two businesses and they are selling one tomorrow for a 1/4 of what it is worth, so they can get an apartment next to the hospital which is over two hours from their home.

I'm sure they will sell the other when they need to.

Good luck in life momma's boy. I'm sure they still pay for your apartment 30 minutes away.

Retiring early is lazy.

Truth.

Good for them. Although you should never sell for a quarter of what it's worth. Why don't you take over the business and keep it going?

My HOUSE is paid off. As is my jeep. And I don't need luck, I have a business to inherit, lots and lots of stock being willed to me, and several thousand acres of land. And as the future patriarch I'll be doing quite well.

Being the first born is awesome.

Life is always good on the river.

Retired two years ago. It helps when you start paying into SSN at the age of 13. He also was able to retire at a younger age because he kept the same job for over 40 years.

We'll then he should go back to work to provide for his family instead of thinking that he's "entitled" to retire early and that others should pay for his family members because he doesn't feel like working any longer.

We are from the 2nd poorest county in Missouri. The population is less than 10,000. The largest town has less than 700. No hospitals and no Wal-Marts. Four schools in the county and none of them have football.

Living in the south it seems you would know what it is like to live in a rural area. When my parents went to the ER they had to drive at least 2 hours last week.

It's not about going back to work, but where does a 65 your old man fined a job. They may own two businesses, but they are small. When he did drive to work many times he would have to take a ferry to cross the lake. For over 40 years he would drive 45 minutes to an hour away to work.

It all may seem simple to some of you, but is not. Over 50% of the men in my hometown work on the road.

Parents where unpaid youth ministers for over 30 years. My dad was on the school board for over 30 years. They are salt of the earth conservative republicans.

They may not be part of the Trump base, but they are conservative and republican.

Well since ACA my company has moved 4 times for coverage and the cost have increased for my family and I had no longer the right under the US Constitution to refuse a seller of medical insurance under threat from penalties levied by my own governments arm of tax collection. So I'm not hesitant to try something new.

Robin Hood 2017 anyone?

Why did the ACA need to be "fixed"? Who in that super-majority messed it up?

Mostly Joe Lieberman.

The Supreme Court also played a role since the bill passed was not what ultimately went into effect.

Though Marco Rubio and friends did a number after 2010.

Trump has continued that trend by refusing to keep promises kept to insurers abut cost sharing payments that are sowing chaos in actuarial projections of rnext year and market participation.

But also just dumb Democrats that actually believed shaving a few billion off the initial cost by reducing subsidies and reducing the mandate penalties would yield political goodwill by their constituents that would ultimately still be rattled up about "death panels" and the long-term effects of higher insurance costs because of that dumb choice.

But lets also just be clear, it was never a "good" bill. Though whether something objectively "good" was even possible under any circumstance in 2008 is debatable. Still is honestly. Too many powerful interests and too little enthusiasm or willingness to upset that apple cart to really make meaningful reform happen.
