This week Brian Sullivan was given Shepard Smith's old 7pm EST CNBC timeslot for a new show. Looks promising.

Last night one segment dealt with an extraordinary amount of Medicare fraud in South Florida. The estimate is 90% of Durable Medical Equipment Companies in South Fla are criminal shams. 90%!

So while the FBI investigates parents for questioning School Boards, and government spends millions to suppress free speech, DME's are brazenly stealing billions from taxpayers.

Inside the mind of criminals: How to brazenly steal $100 billion from Medicare and Medicaid

• Medicare and Medicaid programs are being brazenly targeted by sophisticated criminals.
• Estimated annual fraud tops $100 billion, but investigators say it’s likely much higher.
• A convicted fraudster tells CNBC it’s easy to steal from the health-care programs because there aren’t enough agents to keep up with the various schemes.

A nondescript suite of offices in a bland building tucked in a quiet Miami suburb seemed as good a place as any for a medical supply company to rent some office space.

But this company rented space two floors above a regional office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ criminal investigative unit. It also tried billing Medicare more than $500,000 for various medical equipment — such as braces, orthotics and wheelchairs — for patients who didn’t exist.

During a routine check by HHS’ Office of Inspector General, which investigates Medicare and Medicaid fraud, special agents in Florida noticed that a local company had recently changed owners and had another address in their building. But that location didn’t have any actual employees. It was no more than a mail drop, a physical location of a shell corporation designed to make it look legitimate on paper, said Omar Pérez Aybar, special agent in charge for Florida.
...

Ripping off Medicare is ‘easy’

“It’s just so easy. It’s unbelievable,” said one Miami man, who admitted that he used to make a living by stealing from Medicare.

“You’ll be surprised. For money, they’ll do anything,” he said, asking not to be identified for fear of retribution by people he worked with in the criminal underworld. “It’s always been like that. And people keep on — they get caught, they get out, and they’ll do it all over again.”

He was arrested and charged with running an illegal pill business, according to agents who worked his case. The scheme involved multiple players who were all on the take and got a cut of the windfall from defrauding Medicare, the special agents said.

Describing the scheme, the fraudster said he recruited patients to get a prescription from a doctor that was then filled at a pharmacy and paid for by Medicare. He would then remove the label and “wash” the bottle to make it look new before reselling the pills to a wholesaler, which would sell them back to that pharmacy or another one that was in on the deal, he said. The same pills could be sold and resold multiple times with different phony patients, billing Medicare each time.
...

Still, as Pérez Aybar points out, there’s always another fraudulent operation ready to bilk the system.

“South Florida, without question, is the ground zero for health-care fraud, but it’s only one state. There are 49 others and territories where these types of schemes are occurring,” he said.

Which is the entire motivation for the spend-thrift DEMOCRATs in EVERY project they so 'lovingly and caringly' propose for the "good of the disadvantaged" = and that is to toss so much federal (our taxes) out onto the streets for their 'supporters' to steal.

It gets lost in the shuffle of handing out that much money - people get filthy rich from the 'mist' that sheds from all the activity. And is too 'small' in regards to the billions of $$$ flowing thru for anyone to take notice.

Have to rely on some happenstance good citizen to notice something odd going on in all the accumulation points - and then be lucky enough to be in a locale where the officials are not in on the take.

DEMOCRATs = pro-corruption - at every level - their only true god = free money

Yet the DOJ/FBI and newer divisions set up for 'domestic terrorist' deplorables: Are too busy arresting granny for going to a Trump rally in DC. Or too busy going to a Bubba garage pull rope, or a Jussie complaint.

Also, the fraud with the IRS under Obama where illegals were getting $45K refunds claiming their Madre's and dogs in Mexico and 28 people in their home.

Then don't forget the PPP fraud, the unemployment fraud, the stimulus fraud.

All while: Good luck calling social security. Make a phone appointment for 3 weeks later-

After on hold music for 45 minutes- and weeks later you get an 'appointment-interview' call from: Shaniqua-ShonTayTay-TammyLou-Whitetrash.

She will be rude to you; as you hear her 5 kids screaming in the background as she files her nails working remotely

This country is going to hell economically, but hey let's send Ukraine billions biweekly, Hoss.

It’s fascinating this is the first thing you considered after reading the article.

Pathetic, really.

I've had this experience so many times that I just hate making phone calls for anything, I have a bit of a hearing problem and all these foreigners trying to talk over background noise thru their remote mike makes most of it totally unintelligible. Usually have to resort asking for someone with "English as first language" experience.

I don't give a shite whether Ronald Reagan's resurrected ghost runs it.

If the assertion that 90% of DMEs are criminal frauds is accurate, and the cost is $100B, it needs to be fixed! It needs to be fixed before our Federal imbeciles talk about further increasing our taxes in order to pay the criminals more.

As for your idiotic attempt to make this issue partisan, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), the U.S. HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) enforce Medicare and Medicaid laws.

A Houma durable medical equipment supplier got caught up with the scheme.

The case is still pending. In one case, there was bill to Medicare for enough body braces for one person that you would think they broke every bone in their body.

Yahoo News

There is a longer article in the Courier but it is behind a paywall. It describes their defense and that they are working on restitution to Medicare as part of a plea agreement.

From the way it was described to me, a marketing company would get leads on people needing certain DME and call the prospective patients to get their Medicare information. Once the information was gathered they would send the patient what they needed and then bill Medicare for more equipment that wasn’t needed. Some times, they didn’t even need the equipment at all and still was shipped something and Medicare got the bill. The marketing company then spread out the orders and leads to different suppliers who agreed to do business with them.

What I don’t understand is that Medicare doesn’t have some sort of verification process that would question certain billing activities when you have multiple DME orders for the same client.

now you done done it. I forgot about calling AllState and if you aren't 20 and scan your vehicle to them filing a claim. And the submenu "ONLINE CLAIMS" is a joke....

You spend 20 minutes looking for a phone number. You call 1-800 they are inept. Then you don't understand a word the person is saying --and I understand nearly everyone in several accents/languages--

I will now stop and clearly say, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND a word you are saying. They say, Oh sorrys Ms. Oogafay and continue on in gibberish.

I swore to myself next time I am going to ask for someone PRESS ONE for english else. But then you get set back 30 minutes.

A recent ER visit for my 7year old was $956. He was hit in the teeth with a heavy toy golf club. The Dr literally touched his two front teeth and gave him two over the counter meds. It's a fricking disgrace!

But liberals have assured me that the government will be able to negotiate lower prices in a single payer system.

You forget that you are not just paying for your services but for all the services that are doled out to people who have no insurance of any kind. You can thank the government for instituting this

The network is probably laying the groundwork to attack DeSantis, after all this propping him up to counter Trump is over.

It doesn't matter if he enters the race and somehow won the primary, or if he doesn't and continues to be governor. They will pounce when the primary is over.
