None.
Most of the people I talk politics with understand Trump's tariff policies are largely reciprocal and are being implemented for leverage against unfair trade policies that have hurt street level Americans for the past 35 years.
Over the past 30 years wealth consolidation from lower and middle class Americans to the 1% in the name of Globalism has been devastating for the majority of Americans.

Yeah. Hopefully things settle soon. Trump is looking like a clown with the shite right now.

Since I work in Supply Chain, it’s a daily discussion. We’re spending a significant amount of time trying to mitigate the impact, because no one really knows which way this is going to go.

They were fine with covid induced inflation but not Trump induced inflation

So you see the same exact vehicle that is now listed at a higher price?
It didn't sell at the lower price a week ago so they think it will sell at the higher price this week?
I have no doubt car prices will go up.
I just think your example is stupid and why should I trust some random poster on the internet?

I mean we could have voted for the admin that gave us 26% inflation and EV mandates.

Anyone with an international supply chain is talking about this almost every day (or should be).
For anyone that works in retail, CPG, food and beverage, etc., know that your executive teams are talking about this nearly constantly. Figuring out a way to maintain a margin is going to be interesting.

Lol, you are just making shite up.
One thing not being mentioned.
When I bought my new vehicle during Covid I called several different dealerships in multiple states.
I saw as high as a $7k mark up on these vehicles. I purchased mine in mobile with $0 markup. But this was a supply chain issue because we don’t make shite here.
These vehicles have not increased in price since then by $7k.
So if you bought one then with the mark up, you paid more than you would now.

A bit. I have 3 US manufacturing plants but we do buy a few components from Canada. These components are only available from Canadian suppliers, so I’ll likely be out of business on those SPECIFIC items for the foreseeable future.
It’ll be at least 18 months before a domestic supplier can figure out how to reproduce, in the end not a huge deal to me but the consumer loses.

The first two of the three Covid stimulus packages occurred while Trump was in office, as did the initial wave of shutdowns. Trump deserves much of the blame for Covid-induced inflation.

When the inventory you will need to purchase is going to cost more than your current inventory you better raise prices on the junk on your lot or you're going to be in a bad spot.
Same reason gas prices go up fast and come down slow.

We have a guy in my company who runs the Canadian portion of our business. He's very stoic and likes Trump but he (like me) thought this was all sabre rattling and would have been settled weeks ago.
I can tell he's starting to get nervous - his orders are way down and his pipeline (usually the most full in our company by far) is pretty empty.
Hoping it gets resolved bigly soon.

I shite you not. You can call me a snob, liar, etc but I was in the market for a Porsche and I was looking at targa. This legit went up 7k the week tariffs were announced.

Industry wise it’s a big topic as we all know things are going to go up. Multiple suppliers have sent emails warning us that it’s coming and the industry itself is talking to the administration to get them settle things down some. Costs will go up for businesses and additionally they will be passed down to consumers too. That’s just what it is.
Our personal circle of friends… it isn’t really a thing.

Not much at all. A few friends will joke about it, a couple libtards are butthurt about it, but overall it's rarely if ever mentioned and at least half the time it's mentioned it's part of a joke.

We've had to get some orders placed sooner than planned to beat the tariffs as our vendors are expecting price increases on some items.

Same thread I guess. But look at what I posted

This is the entirety of trumps presidency. I wish he would let the smart people work first before doing this to measure impact / scale. You can do this when economy is good and pace it out but can’t suddenly dump 10 things at once.

Haven’t we been letting the supposed smart people make these decisions for years? Look where it got us. Let’s try something different.
