How many PT'ers are for Biden's student loan forgiveness vote buying scam?

If you're for it up vote.....if you think it's a bad precedent down vote.
It's interesting to me how many people are trying to compare those who serve in the military getting their education paid for by the government or corporate bailouts as a comparison to Biden's student loan forgiveness scam.
I have no trouble rewarding our military personnel with a college education program at minimal cost to those who served honorably, and I'm generally not for corporate bailouts, particularly like the crap that went on in 2008/2009.

IIRC people that took out student loans can be forgiven up to $20,000 if they make less than $125k per year.

People who didn't go to college, or went but already paid their loans off, pay for those who have gone to college and still have outstanding loans.

Pay off their loan if they go to Ukraine for a year or two. We can even package it in the next payoff we send Zelensky. For every person that takes up the offer, take a million dollars of aid out. Win win win.

It's worth noting that you actually pay into the GI Bill. When you sign up in the whirlwind of basic training they urge everyone to sign up for it; it's an absurdly low cost and at most 5-10% of the total benefit you receive, but if you don't sign up you don't get it ever. Ergo almost everyone signs up.
I imagine a large number of people don't end up using any or all of that benefit years later, so in a way the GI Bill fund actually covers some of itself with voluntary contributions by service members.

In fairness a lot of "conservatives" had their hands out for stimulus on this board.

Here, I'll help.
Let's say there are millions of Americans facing repossession of their overpriced automobiles because their wages couldn't keep up with surging Bidenflation. Biden makes a declaration in 2024 while campaigning if you elect Jotato I will by executive order force other responsible taxpayers to ease your financial burdens by paying off your overpriced automobiles. Yay Jotato!!!! Hip hip hooray!!!
What do ya think? Are you all in?

I'm on the fence, bc they kept juicing the cost of college as they gave out more grants and loans.
Students weren't paying the real costs of their education; the system was using loans and grants to funnel money into, and through, the institutions.

Married couple with a household income of $250k could get $40k of taxpayer money.

How is this, in any way, compared to signing off on a loan? I didn't ask for the government to shutdown the country and it was actually conservatives that were against this. So yeah, I did take the stimulus because I was laid off due to the shutdowns. Not even comparable.

One of the few policies outside of education of marginalized groups that raises my emotional level a bit.
It's a bad policy that punishes people who made good decisions and rewards people who made bad decisions.
But, after all the Covid spending 2020-2022, none of it matters anymore. Trump and Biden sealed our monetary fate for a long while. It makes any discussion of much more minor spending seem trivial.

I believe in the old fashioned way. Propose legislation. Debate it. Pass it in the House and Senate. Sign it by the president.
If you can’t pass it, it doesn’t happen. Period.

As usual you miss the point. BTW nearly all the $2k stimulus this household received went to two Christian missions in downtown KC that care for the homeless and I bet a lot of other conservatives bumped up their charitable giving too.....not unusual for Christians to do these things.

The "conservatives" on this board who still have student debt will say they are against it, but are secretly hoping for it. Many CINOs on this board. Just talk about supporting the ending of TOPS. They shite their britches.

It is a slap in the face to every college student who ever demonstrated financial responsibility, whether by working part-time, living frugally or choosing a college he could actually afford.
