My sister.

She appears to work reasonably hard, but based on listening to her, the system she works in is highly inefficient.

Yeah … uh… they did. Yall are painfully unaware of what is happening at actual agencies. Check out what they are about to do to the FDIC. The echo chamber and lack of comprehension of what is coming for all of us. I’m just happy that you all will suffer right along with me.

I am not sure what exactly you are saying, but why would an oligarch seek to reduce his ability to wield power by reducing the number of federal employees and cutting funds at the Executive's disposal?

Haven’t in a long time, but used to have to a fair bit. Did a project for USAID in Algeria once.

Project had 192 construction plan drawings. If there was a change of any kind of change (and there are always changes) I had to send 6 sets of the drawings “for review” to DC. Not 6 of the drawing(s) where there were changes, 6 entire fulls sets. Not one comment or change to any of my plans they ever made.

I ended up buying an industrial copier and paper by the roll with a cutter because of the cost. Somewhere those copies are probably in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust.

I truly hated dealing with any moron in DC no matter what level they were. The only real difference I found was the higher they were the bigger the bribe they wanted. Never of course called it that, but everyone knew what it was.

My father was an EE with the Corps of Engineers and retired after 34 years there. Loved his job & immediate co-workers, many of whom were former military & did excellent work. But he absolutely hated the bloated staff, and said that close to half of the employees at his location were dead weight who actually impeded their work. Loved the Corps, hated the bureaucracy which only worsened over the years. He took early retirement as soon as it became available.

This is the nut of the issue, regardless of whether the worker is good or bad, the real issue is, do we need a job that does that task, or maybe a better way is, is that role needed. Better yet, is that branch or division needed. I don’t care if all the workers are exceptional, is the product needed to fulfill the mission.

Often in a bureaucracy, you find one agency supports another, so the work isn’t for a public need, but for a support for the other government workers. They create their own needs and jobs, but have no redeeming product for the economy as a whole.

Government work used to be seen as prestigious.

I believe it can still be deemed prestigious. However, these days certain types of "government work" can be not only inefficient but unnecessary.

Some politicians are apparently THRIVING despite their salary.

My word, yall are so obtuse. They are literally decimating all regulation. How can you not see what is happening? The filthy rich are just going to get even more so. You and me and all the baws are not going to benefit. AI is going to completely decimate society at the hand of Elon and bros. When talk of UBI begins on the left, Fox News will tell you it’s a communist plot. You will be vehemently against it all the way to tent cities.

Since they can’t be fired for poor performance, you have to boot the ones without seniority. That is just how government operates.

They don’t even know what people do but just slice

Absolutely ANYTHING done by any level of government can be done 10X faster, 10X cheaper, 10X more efficiently, 10X better, for 1/10th the cost. I understand you lost your job, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to people defending this utter bullshite.

We are damn near 40 trillion dollars in the hole! We are selling our grandchildren down the river so that twats like yourself can tell us how ignorant or jealous we are. If whatever service you performed had any value, go out and get a job in the real world, you'll be just fine. If not, frick you for fleecing the American taxpayer for however long you've been our employee.

UBI has been talked about on the left for a while now, this isn't new. It was Andrew Yang's entire platform when he ran. UBI is a stupid idea.

I see, so you think government workers are some sort of stop gap that prevents people from getting filthy rich.

LOL. Newsflash - the concentration of wealth in this country has grown because of the power in DC. Now that someone is trying to do something about it is all about creating an oligarchy. Crazy how retarded you are.

The ones I see and deal with suck.

Is it such a stretch to think the others suck as well with lack of proof otherwise?

I interact a lot with DoD personnel. The good ones, which are rare, are taking the buyout and headed to the private sector. Which was very predictable.
