This is a great point. How do I get to heaven?

1) some “Christians” believe

There is only 1 thing scripture says and 1 thing anyone can do, and that is to believe upon Jesus alone. That’s it. Man makes it about you because that comes from our flesh, and it makes good workers for their business, but God’s will is to believe on Jesus, not yourself, because our righteousness is hot garbage and will never be enough, because anything short of absolute perfection is missing the mark completely.

Jesus paid the price for you when He took your death penalty upon Himself for you on your cross. It’s a free gift. You can receive it or reject it, and it’s received or rejected based on who you’re believing will save you. It’s either Jesus or you. It’s not a combination plate, and if it is, then you’re the savior because you’re trusting in yourself.

John 3 says different. “ no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” And again “ You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must b born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit”

That’s not different. It’s what being born again is, believing on Him alone.

Nicodemus was one of the most learned of the Pharisees and was believing on himself. The sermon on the mount was written to those same who were believing on themselves, their genealogy, and abilities to live a law they had failed at miserably. Jesus gave them Moses 2.0 and said to pluck their eyes out, chop their hands off, not as a recipe to get into heaven, but to show them their inability to please God, and so eventually believe upon Jesus after He ushered in a new and perfect covenant with man based on grace.

The New Covenant does not begin in Matthew. That’s the old covenant of the Jews. When Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, HE fulfilled the law. That’s the beginning of the new covenant for us, and why we are dead to the law and alive to Christ when we have believed on Jesus. That is the will of God, and that is being born again. It’s done in Jesus, not in ourselves. We are the beneficiaries of His finished work, and that is received only when we have given up trying to please Him and rest in Jesus. Just as Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness, so we believe Jesus and His perfect righteousness is given to us. No one deserves it, earns it, or maintains it. You’re given it because Jesus paid the price for it.

All that may be true. My point is to be Christian has different definitions depends on who you ask. So when the OP asks “how many Christian’s believe”. The answer is throw a rock and you’ll get a different answer.

Baptist
Southern Baptist
Apostolic
Pentecostal
Lutheran
Catholic
Etc
Etc

And yet only one can be correct. That’s found in scripture, not man’s religions or religious doctrines. If they agree, great, but they are not the foundation for faith in Christ to place your eternal destiny in. Jesus is.

Revelation was written to Roman citizens who happened to be Christians.

What a load of crap. Jews were expelled from Rome in 19AD and again in 41AD. You cant expel a Roman citizen without a trial. Paul was the missionary to Rome because he was the only early believer to actually be a Roman citizen

Also, in 70AD the Romans leveled the city of Jerusalem, and destroyed the temple. The Christian church was based in Jerusalem under the leadership of James, the brother of Jesus. James ossuary has been discovered confirming their relationship. Carved in the box in Aramaic is "Jacob (James), son of Joseph, brother of Yeshua"

The Jerusalem church was forced to flee, ending up in the places where John wrote his narrative to in 95AD. BTW, The isle of Patmos sat just off the coast of Anatolia, where all 7 Christian churches were founded. He was writing to Jewish believers, not Roman citizens, about the covenants extended to them in the OT

The only influence that’s been at play here is from unbelievers, and gnostics, and that’s found quite subtly in the Alexandrian text discovered in the 19th century in the land of Gnosticism. Even still, the gospel is still their in to believe upon, albeit translational issues that I feel cloudy things up, and build confusion, and still other things that are missing because of the text used in the translations.

I hold to the KJ, and not because of language, but because we’ve had it since the beginning from Antioch where the first churches originated. It’s the received text, and God has preserved His word through it to present. He is faithful to preserve His word, and you can count on it and Him.

What are your thoughts on the DeadSea Scrolls and the texts in Ethiopia which are said to be older than KJ?

My thoughts are that older does not mean more reliable. We were told the same thing about Sinaiticus only to find out it was later doctored up to look old due to the lack of handling of the texts. I have a lot of reservations with Tischendorf, as well as with both Westcott and Hort.

I concern myself with the Gospels, that is enough for me to deal with. What ever Revelations says or means happens when it happens. As Stonewall Jackson said, paraphrase- we must be prepared to meet God at any point in our lives, because you never know when

What is so catastrophic these days?

Mass migrations are always catastrophic to the populace that has become native to the area the masses are migrating to.

Don't believe me? Ask the native Americans or the people of Palestine circa 1920.

then tell THEM they are wrong... i'm not claiming they are or not... personally, i don't think Revelation falls neatly into either description, and is partly both, a social commentary, coded for safety of the early church, as well as "prophesy", even if i don't believe in what it's saying is to come...

Don’t know if we are at the end of days, but we are definitely on the downhill side of things.

By the way, I notice that you didn’t touch the decapitation point. I know why.
