My own personal wild guess is that Putin can keep this going for years. Maybe not 10 years. Maybe not even 5 years. But, IMHO Putin could keep this pace of operations up for 4 years.

This war is about Putin's fight against globalist encroachment/overreach, and the American political uniparty machine's money-laundering cash cow (corrupt Ukraine).
Putin made his move and won't be backing down. The globalists back Ukraine with all their available resources and they won't be backing down.
The answer is pretty straightforward... this proxy conflict can continue indefinitely. Ukraine could be razed to the ground and the two factions would still continue to battle. It's a war of ideology and could/likely will be very protracted. Ideological wars in the ME, for example, have raged on since the advent of written history.

Years. We've told Ukraine not to negotiate, ever. They listened to us. We also told them that western countries will not officially enter the war, so there's no physical support coming. So it's going to last years. The only negotiating that happens will happen if zelensky himself is pushed into a life/death dead end by Russia. He doesn't care if his countrymen are sacrificed, but he definitely won't risk his own life.
