Air travel would grind to a halt.

Would definitely slow things down and make it miserable. Air traffic controllers would be worse.

Who gives a shite? We didn't even have TSA workers until after 9/11. If we have a president that protects the country we don't need those people.

I don’t think they will, but TSA along with air traffic controllers have the most leverage to force congress to negotiate.

Private security firms couldn't provide the same function?

Why would they walk. Getting no interest loans until they get paid. Rest assured they are still groping granny.

Air traffic controllers are considered essential government employees and legal action could be taken against them if they walked off the job

Could Trump make a declaration to pay the TSA, as to not impact everyday, working Americans and disrupt travel as a whole?

Even if it was a bill being submitted by the republicans in the House/Senate... Would be interesting to see the Dems have to vote whether or not to pay the TSA or fight big bad orange man.

Hopefully soon. Then they would figure out a private company could do their job at less expense and more efficiently.

The industry would be better off without the TSA.

No, the Constitution stipulates funding bills must originate in the house.

1. Air travel existed before TSA workers.
2. Avg salary for TSA is 28K. My garbage man makes more.
3. I think they can be replaced with about 10 minutes of training.

Good. Fire them. Contract out the security to private firms.

Problem solved.

TSA created by law to eliminate private security at airports. GW signed law. Private security exception was created via request to TSA administrator. Long process. I think a dozen airports exceptions allowed. Meaning congress would need to rescind law to eliminate TSA at airports.

TSA walkout would be illegal but would end the shutdown quickly.
