I’ve been a Probation and Parole Officer for 35 years. Started out as a State Officer. Was hired as a US Probation Officer and worked a full career retiring after 21 years at age 50. Decided to go back to the State where I’ve been for an additional 10 years at this point. I’m still going strong. I think I’ll hang it up completely at age 62. I will get two pensions and social security.

Anyway, it does make you cynical about the human condition. I still like my job and I do my best to serve the tax payers of the great state of Florida. Having Governor Ron DeSantis has been an absolute blessing. His leadership has greatly influenced the state more than any politician I’ve ever seen,

Not long but my grandfather was one for 40 years.

When your grandfather was a cop, they didn't have to tolerate the crap. They would beat that arse in a heartbeat.

I would last until the first Fentanyl Floyd got in my face, and then he would be sitting beside George in Hell.

It put myself and both of my kids thru college as well as paid for a divorce but left me broken mentally and physically.

Can't speak for him but I don't hate the police. I DO hate the absurd public fellatio they receive along with a near complete pass from half the public no matter how shitty any of them do

I've chatted with at least a dozen cops working out at the gym over the last 40 years. One thing I noticed was that several of them considered the military or tried it right out of HS. They weren't afraid of combat. But they opted later for police work for a variety of reasons. Some didn't like the idea of moving all over the place instead of having a steady home.
But it obviously means that cops have a very high level of risk tolerance that's similar to soldiers.

In addition to the endless sorority rush videos, I’ve been getting a lot of dashcam and bodycam videos in my various feeds. I don’t see how these guys have the patience to argue in circles with these idiots over simple things like presenting a driver’s license. Not saying I’d shoot people, but I’d definitely be cuffing them after the second or third refusal. My guess is the cops want to avoid the administrative hassle involved in arresting someone because they insist on being an idiot.

I've been doing it for almost 28 years. 33 months left and I'm out. Overall, I've enjoyed it and have made a decent living, but I'm also over it.

People are hard on cops, but they don’t even consider the massive amount of bullshite, lying, conniving, and constant manipulation they face on the job. It takes a level of patience and restraint most of us could never maintain. And I don’t have that.

I agree 100%. The only issue is some do have what it takes and my hat is off to them, and some don't and they need to be held accountable.

Yeah, I quickly realized I'm not cut out for that work. I wouldnt have the restraint these dudes have.

The abuse they take is more than I could deal with. I'd get fired pretty quickly

Nope. Supporting police because it is a tough job.

They have no intention of doing anything except harassing white people for petty infractions.

What? Where do you live?

They’re not gonna do anything about them raping murdering and stealing.

Their job is to arrest, but prosecute.

Not personally, but most cops try to do their jobs in difficult circumstances.

It depends on how big the town is. The fictional town of Mayberry had Sheriff Andy Taylor and Deputy Barney Fife. That was it. Of course the only trouble they ever had was Otis the drunk who was put in a jail cell to sleep it off. That's not your average town. You need a sufficient police force to enforce the law based on the population size.

Your point? Some priests have diddled kids. Does that mean all priests are horrible?

Every profession has its share of shitheads. Do you condemn them all?

The point is I don't put anyone on a pedestal simply because of their occupation.
