How Likely Is Trump to Go to Prison? What Would That Look Like? Reporter Breaks it Down

A NYT reporter broke down a handful of other cases with falsifying business records charges and here’s what he found (article is still behind paywall):
-Only 1 in 10 cases resulted in confinement.
-The average prison sentence was 6 months.
-The defendants in these cases were also charged with other felonies (Trump is only facing falsifying records charges).
However he opines that in all cases the falsification involved much less money than Trump’s, which arguably aggravates his crimes more if he is convicted.
If convicted, the author believes that Trump will serve 3-6 months in NY State prison, entirely under solitary conditions accompanied only by a limited secret service detail.
I would be curious to know if house arrest is an option depending on the length of the sentence. It seems a little much to send a former president to prison for what is essentially a white collar crime.

I’d think they would issue a sentence of house arrest and a SIGNIFICANT fine, it’s the judges discretion in most cases that are successfully prosecuted and more then often they issue jail time, however, just a fine is an option. So it’s possible they only fine him.

Did you even read the summary? This is objective reporting based on empirical evidence.
Bottom line, I think Trump’s chances of prison are slim if convicted. If he does receive prison, it will be apparent there is political vengeance at play.

He's not going to prison. If he wins the election, all this shite goes away.

Does it have to be a unanimous jury? If so, maybe there is at least 1 morally decent person on the jury that realizes this is a sham trial.
