So dicta in a US Supreme Court case decided right after the Civil War isn't that formidable of a challenge. Other Supreme Court decisions have been overturned by the Supreme Court, some as recently as ...oh, this week.

In world history, might makes right is universally proved out in 99% of conflicts.

If a defender of the South’s legal position can get his opponent to say might makes right, I think he has done his job regarding the legal question.

SCOTUS would rule to allow secession?

Secession is allowed; the court’s opinion that it isn’t unilaterally allowed just needs to be overturned like other opinions that weren’t correct. The Federal government wasn’t given the power to prevent it, it prevented it illegally by arms. The states didn’t give up that right.

I don't think federal goverment would use military, but would attempt to isolate these states and withhold federal aid and not allow travel out of these states.

Don't kid yourself. DC would kill us with abandon, and not lose a wink of sleep over it.

This doesn't make any sense. Is secession magically going to make Texas more conservative? Are you going to kill or exile the 40-45% of the state that votes straight ballot Democrat?

No, but with a new, very conservative, drafted constitution, they either get in line or gtfo.

Texas absolutely could frick the US with their number of refineries, and pipelines, and overall petroleum production.

I wish they would go for it.

Texas is the "domino" that the warmongering secret society asshats said about Vietnam in SW Asia.

If the Line Star State ever pulled the trigger, you could be most of the Midwest, and Deep South would follow with it. If that ever happened, the Rogue assembly would/could control the overwhelming majority of N American oil and food production and it would also have access to thousands of miles of coastline and ports from the Gulf to the Mid-Atlantic, plus most of the Mississippi River and large contingent of defense plants and weaponry and bases.

Hell, they could probably even get Russia to funnel arms and metals and other resources to the breakaway states. It would be an all our shite show war. The Coastal regions can never afford to have those states break away.

Russia would 100% back Texas. They have been using propaganda for years to push this.

I don't really like Russia but if they help Texas secede... frick it
