It’s the old adage.. “if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

They blew their load covering up a stolen election, the origin of Covid, Hunter’s laptop, Vaccine data, etc… destroying what little credibility they had in the process. They can no longer even pretend to be honest or legit.

Does their target audience of NPCs even watch or listen anymore?

White women in big cities/suburbs believe pretty everything the liberal media tells them. You wouldn’t believe how stupid, arrogant, & emotional they are & they vote. The Jen Hatmakers of social media have also brainwashed them. This is why I married a MAGA Latina.

The mainstream media is on the payroll of the oligarchs and the US government, period.

They do not care about ratings, just keep up the leftwing narrative and the checks will keep on rolling in...

There is no other explanation.

The strongest effect of mainstream media is background noise (visual and audio).
Print stories online are just like print stories in newspapers. A large percentage of people only read the headlines. They are too stupid to read an article with a bunch of words in it.
So, they see something like 'Trump associate indicted' and they don't bother clicking on it to see he's not a Trump associate and he hasn't been indicted. They just remember the 'Trump is bad' implication for the 100th time this year.

How many people believe Trump was "divisive" and that's the biggest reason he lost in 2020?

If the MSM were still effective, then the Fed Gov't wouldn't need the Ministry of Truth.

Hell, if the MSM were effective, Trump would have never been elected.

Unfortunately, far too effective in shaping opinion for my taste; especially considering that they are agenda driven and ignore news that they don’t like

He was divisive. Ask anyone who doesn't like him. That is what the MSM has told them to say/believe.

Then ask them how he was divisive and you will get crickets.

The point is to undermine the media. The government is the answer. They will have to take over the media to restore integrity.

They were extremely effective in shaping an initial image of Trump based on marginally dubious claims at best then grafting that onto everything the man said or did. The result of this caused them to do what progressive idiots always do and move too far too fast and it left them severely exposed crippling any hope they ever had at pulling something like that off again.

We have a dozen folks on this very board who double-pinky swear that they're "as MAGA as anyone I know" but still cling to this flaccid line of thinking.

They are still extremely effective and you are in denial if you don’t understand how

Not nearly as effective as they were before the 90s (Rush), and surely not as effective as they have been since the creation of the Internet.

Of course the Internet is rewriting the rules for all Media.

The MSM still have significant power in creating fake narratives (the swarm effect, just google their headlines or buzzwords) and as a (fake) validation tool for leftists.

The fake impeachments of Trump likely wouldn’t have happened with an honest objective MSM.

It’s more effective than anyone here would like to believe. Sure they are partisan clowns, but they still influence a lot of people. I hope alternative media continues to erode their effectiveness. I’d like to see some of them go bankrupt. It will be interesting to see how Malone handles CNN. Some have speculated that when the captive cable subscription revenue ends, so will CNN.

Their “effectiveness” hinges on the fact that they are very selective about what stories they cover and which ones they won’t. The Hunter Biden laptop story is a perfect example of this.

Unfortunately, half of the country didn’t hear about the laptop before the election because they refused to cover it and big tech censored it.

Most of the people who rely on mainstream media for their information aren't looking for news or information. They're looking for someone to placate them and reaffirm their prejudices and biases.

Trump went around the media and to the people with his twitter account. That is why they finally had to ban him.
