How does Trump win those people back? He had them in 2016 and lost them in 2018, 2020 & 2022. That's Trump's biggest problem and it's one that he created all on his own. DeSantis can win them over still by providing solutions in an adult-like manner. Remember, Trump's policies are fairly popular... He isn't. DeSantis is basically Trump when it comes to policy without all of the drama (both self-inflicted and made up by the media). Ron knows the media will make him the devil but that doesn't mean that he has to be as abrasive / confrontational as Trump was determined to make himself. It plays well with the base but the base isn't big enough to win nationally. We need the following coalition to win: MAGA, establishment & Independents. If that doesn't happen it's over. What I've been fearful of is that Trump has burned some of those bridges and anyone associated with Trump ends up losing because of it. It's guilt by association.

Trump won in 2016. Biden won in 2020 because he wasn't Trump. Desantis is neither, that's why it's his to lose.

DeSantis has more money and organization than Trump and is running a far more disciplined campaign. If the election were next month he would be screwed but it isn't. He is going to have months of opportunities to get his voice heard and let people get to know him. His policies and accomplishments are pretty amazing by comparison to Trump and once people see they can get the policies without the drama guy over 30 years younger with a pretty wife and cute kids it's going to get traction.

Trump keeps shooting himself in the foot daily as well. He's getting away with it because most people aren't paying attention but over time it mounts up. Praising Cuomo was stupid. Bashing Kayleigh was really stupid. He's barely campaigning at all as well.

The courtroom stuff is hard to say because it gets a lot of sympathy votes for Trump but people may get fatigued as well.

The big elephant in the room no one is talking about? What if Trump has a health scare. I think that would be more damaging to Trump than anything. He MUST appear fully healthy and energized or else he will lose support and fast. I don't wish him ill but he is about to turn 77 and isn't a fitness guy. Odds are he has at least one or two significant medical conditions that are under wraps as of now. It's almost impossible for a man to be his age and live as he does without some issues even if they aren't imminently a problem. They typically are more of the type that slows you down and requires lower stress and more rest. That's an issue for a guy who wants to be President for the next 4 years.

We could all just shut the frick up and watch instead of wasting time stirring shite up on the board, beating each other up about it and making this forum a complete waste of time.

They have to put Trump in prison and then the RNC will have to pass rules stating that the RNC cannot nominate a candidate in prison. Then to keep him from running independent state legislatures will have to pass laws to keep him off the ballot.

If Trump really refuses to debate he will lose a ton of ground.

If he does debate, I'd wager that DeSantis will beat him like Biden did. Biden beat Trump like a drum in their first debate, which is arguably the most embarrassing part of the Trump reign. To be fair, most incumbents lose their first debate (Reagan, HW Bush, Obama, Trump).

Trump is going to try to dodge primary debates as well. His debate performances in 2020 were horrifically bad, especially the first one.

That would only be true if there was no alternative to Trump. There is now and you make him more appealing by the day.

Don't change a thing though. Keep doing exactly what you're doing.

It was awful. If he had done better they likely wouldn't have been able to steal the damn thing.

I agree. Biden stomped him so badly in the first debate, I was melting.

I think Trump or DeSantis can win. Trump’s margin of error is smaller though. Everyone of voting age already has their opinions formed on him and there won’t be any changing it. I think his opportunity to gain back the independents rests in Biden having this country in shambles so much that people will accept Trump’s craziness just to get the country on sound footing again. For all of the back & forth we have here most everyone is still going to vote for the Republican nominee. But there will be some that stay home and that’s true for both Ron & Don camps. DeSantis has the opportunity to win people over by defining his policies, spotlighting his successes and how they positively impacted Florida and his temperament.

It was embarrassingly bad for both candidates. But it hurt Trump more.

well maybe you should have stayed awake in class and you might learn once trump took the documents, by law, they were declassified the moment he did it.

the president decides what is or isnt classified, NOT the FBI or DOJ

Trump and Biden are both massively disliked on all sides.

Ron and Casey are going to win over a lot of voters looking for alternatives.

The President has ultimate classification authority but he actually has to officially declassify things. The act of shoving them in his pocket is not that. One would have to be retarded to actually believe that.

True. But the dems will still vote in lockstep for their nominee. They've been winning in the states that will determine the winner in 2024. That's why we have to create and keep a coalition that includes the independents and win back the voters that turned away from Trump.

I think they have that ability. Especially the groups I mentioned above. But can they keep MAGA? That's a big challenge that they face moving forward.
