You saw how quickly Nike dropped the ad.

Something tells me those consultants were a subsidiary of the Dollar Shave Club.

Have you ever been to New York or Boston?
Life is different there. The people who live there have a different world view than the rest of the country just because of how they live.
They do not interact with many people who do t live the way they do, so they are genuinely shocked that people don’t think or act like they do.

I actually heard the outside consultants, testers, and advisors strongly advised against it, and they did it anyway. Apparently it’s (ignoring outside advice) been a recurring problem at P&G recently, too, and not just with this campaign.

No problems.
Just making sure you don't act on this unhealthy obsession of yours.

What obsession do you think you see?
Your derangement could be leading to delusion. It happens.

It's like this in Seattle too. They think everyone believes as they do

love to see what the demographics of the marketing team who made the ad look like
Saw him in an article today. Soy boy Indian (dot, not feather) who looks like he has never seen a dumbbell in his life. Not surprising at all.
ETA: His name is Pankaj Bhalla

Pankaj Bhalla, the North America brand director at Gillette, told NBC News "I think the primary driver of why we wanted to have the conversation was because when we were searching for the best definition--the 2019 definition--of the best a man can get, it became critically clear that many men are incredibly good but they can do so much to be better."
Bhalla said Gillette "was not trying to be part of fad" but has "the responsibility of talking to our consumers about what we can be doing better, and that’s what this campaign is about."
"The evolving role of the men in society is a topic that is complex and layered," Bhalla said. "We knew there would be discussion."

I really doubt Gillette was surprised or wasn't prepared for the response to the commercial.
They are just playing the game of any publicity is better than none.

Certainly not a delusion. You appear to think you are seeing a person you don't know and have never met in some commercial you don't like.

The thing that keeps being repeated is that they had no idea that this would be taken negative.
Of course not, because they live in a bubble. This wont make them self-aware either as they'll just stand around and throw up their hands, fire some people and then move on.

Exactly. A lot of these marketing strategies are focus group tested. Hard to believe they would dive in to a PC campaign without understanding the risks.

Well your post says otherwise so it's a good thing I was able to assure you that you are incorrect. You're welcome.

Exactly what a deluded person would say. Melt on. You'll get over it.
