My pick for most fascinating result tonight? Coal magnate Don Blankenship’s 1st place finish in West Virginia’s Mingo County, known as ‘Bloody Mingo’ for its history of labor unrest & bloodshed surrounding the coal mining industry (the film “Matewan” was based on events there)

haha

>ignore coal mining safety standards
>mining accident kills 20 of your miners
>get charged for illegal regulation avoidance
>run for office
>win coal miner voters

People are desperate for jobs. Coal industry is in a shambles. You can bet he will support the industry.

Well. I'll say this. I know less than jack shite about the whole thing relating to Blankenship.

But i do know that often in America, accepted wisdom on stuff like this isn't accepted by those in the closest position to know.

So the actual humans who were closest preferring him does make one raise an eyebrow wondering about the accepted wisdom

I'm just wondering what polls were used that had him 5 points ahead going into election day and then he gets his arse drubbed and comes in last.

This is what politicians are talking about when they are going around the globe promoting a workforce which is business friendly. It is very common among slaves to be of the opinion that their owner is the best owner.....that the plantation or the massage parlor that they are forced to labor on is the best of them. There is little difference between the bondage of chains and the bondage of poverty and little or no opportunity. The people who voted for Blankenship would prefer employment at any cost.....even at the price of their lives as 29 men paid so Don Blankenship and Massey Energy could maximize profit...to unemployment. These people are DESPARATE.....they can’t feed and house themselves without people like Don Blankenship and companies like Massey Energy taking care of them from the cradle to the grave. They aren’t men.....they are children in men’s bodies.....a man would look at conditions in that mine and tell Blankenship to get fricked....but a child will trust Daddy and get killed when the mine explodes because it is cheaper to kill 29 men than it is to extract coal safely.....

Perhaps our resident coal miners simply recognize Safety Third.

IE, reality vs slogans

Dude, if you saw the numbers that I do from coal in Eastern KY and WV right now along with the surge in the pipeline industry, you wouldn't talk out of your neck.

It's not remotely close to even 5-6 years ago, but people are making a killing right now.

I'm in the middle of a deal right now that involves multiple coal co's, including Appalachia, that is contracted in the 100's of millions over the next 5 years involving a middle eastern country.

This will be a Roy Moore repeat. The left has backed off to let him win and starting today, they'll slam him on his past and make up stories about things he's done.

The voters will get so turned off they'll vote for the D who will have an america first message.

A little hard to do that since he came in third and the state has a sore loser law.

true dat /\

Most stuff the public at large know about any subject has been massaged and manicured and painted over to advance an agenda, it is often useful to listen to the folks whose only agenda is the specific topic at hand.

Whatever happened to those couple of democrat ladies that were accusing him anyway. They just up and disappeared after the election.
