re: How did I lose Garrett Graves as my Congressman?

You lost Garret Graves as your congressman bc
1-Louisiana was required for some reason to have 2 Black (Democrat) Congressmen;
2- Cleo Fields is a powerful black politician who isn’t moving out of Baton Rouge, and he wanted the seat;
3- Landry decided he would have more political capital if he gifted Cleo his Black seat and kept Julia Letlow to help him out in DC. This is also because he and Graves are mortal enemies.
4-To say that Landry is a disappointment as governor is an understatement. I’m not defending his choice. However, Cleo was gonna get that seat no matter what.
Graves should have been smart about it and made nice with Landry in the election like Nungesser did. Instead he decided that the Baton Rouge Country Club constituency was large enough to get his best friend elected in a prime example of establishment republican hubris.
Graves gravely miscalculated the influence of the BR Bocage neighborhood on the rest of Louisiana; and stupidly burned his bridge with Landry, who probably would have otherwise worked a deal. Damn shame too - bc Graves was a good Rep.

I’m not sure the folks involved in the drawings could have planned and executed this proposed 4D chess.

Graves wasn’t a blessing either

In the middle of Bidens term...I couldnt believe he said it when i was watching that. Lost my respect after that. I wouldnt have cared if he stayed behind McCarthy, but the blatant lies he was sky screaming did it for me.
This. Graves is/was a rising star in LA state politics and a threat to Landry.

In that district? That’s like saying only putting a teaspoon of shitt in a gallon of vanilla ice cream and saying you still have vanilla ice cream

My general point still stands, as to what swung that election.
Landry still would have beaten Wilson in a runoff, and when you consider Wilson only got 26% in the primary, maybe Landry didn’t need to cut a deal with Cleo.
But word is he did.

Hopefully he runs for Senator

Voting Rights demanded one more majority minority district. Landry took the opportunity to get rid of a competitor.

He was never great on TV. So what? Where have those game show hosts gotten us?

That is the text book definition of gerrymander and it's time to take it back.

He also was one of the chief negotiators for one of the Biden Budget deals. He was negotiating with a fellow Louisiana native who was in the administration.

The current governor needed to bribe the blacks to win the Governor's race without going to a run-off. And he had personal beef with Garrett Graves.

I tried to warn yall for years on here about landry and his inept corrupt dipshit self
Same before the election I mentioned how he was bros with the trial lawyers and would do their bidding... and let's just say, it was not well received.

Once the state caught on to graves it had to get rid of him.
Graves wasn't exactly on the up and up either... He had gotten much too swampy. But let the voters decide... they way Landry cut the deal to give that seat to black Democrats was a much worse scenario than Graves being re-elected.

Endorsing Wags was not smart. Wags was never going to win
Wags is one of Graves' best friends in life. So, there was no way he was not going to endorse him. Jindal stench still on him or not, Wags would have been a much better governor than Landry.

A complete idiot could primary Landry and I’d vote for them.
Landry is a mistake we couldn’t afford after JBE.

Gerrymandered districts are why the dumbest people are leading us.
Are you saying that's all because of gerrymandered districts?
