How did conservatives allow the left to overtake all the American institutions?

I know it escalated under Obama but how did the left get full control over colleges, schools, media, (They've always had entertainment, and courts?

Academia, entertainment, the arts, and journalism have always been left leaning. What is perhaps newish is the left's grip on corporate America and high finance.

Well, let's just take this one first.
For the same reason we can't even try and get any bit of it back...The Right IGNORES entertainment as shallow and stupid and have completely ceded the field to The Left.
The Left, smartly, weaponized all of it and it is now almost entirely pure propaganda for their causes.
And STILL if someone on The Right talks about entertainment, comics, music, etc they get shouted down for caring about unimportant things.
Breitbart understood this, but no one listened.

The left has always been more invested in controlling and shaping colleges, schools, media, and the court system. They're way more ideologically driven than conservatives. Conservatives, for the most part, just want to make money, raise a family, and afford some luxuries while leftists want to constantly tear down whatever system is in place thinking they'll create some utopia that will make them less miserable.

Not conservatives, left leaning, rinos. The ones who pretend to be above the fray, cry about civility and decorum while always quick to knife the party in the back for that fleeting praise from the left. We’re talking about the McCain’s, the Romney’s, the Bush’s and so on.

Republicans were, and still are, FOOLED by "republicans" (RINOs) that who suckered the people into believing that they were fighting for their concerns. IE, John McCain, the Bushes, Mitt Romney, John Roberts, Paul Ryan, and the list goes on......

McCarthy was 100% correct. A lot of the greatest generation loved them some communism.
For all the downvoters or history illiterate, I recommend the book "Stalin's Secret Agents" by M. Stanton Evans. Does a good job of showcasing just how embedded the commies were in our nation / government going back to the 1920s.

A lot of these questions re: 'How come the left can do X and the right cannot' involves the inherent differences between the types of people drawn to a philosophy.
People on the right consider themselves individuals. The left considers themselves members of a group.
I NEVER form an opinion based on what other conservatives think. I think for myself.

One could argue this is why "conservatives" are losing. The "Not my problem, doesn't affect me" idea is not a way to build a stable society.

You don't get it. The personality type is not determined by the party. The party attracts a certain personality type.
If conservatives changed to your way of thinking they would have become democrats a long time ago.
