House GOP unveils $14.3 billion Israel aid bill that would cut funding to IRS

Washington- House Republicans want to pay for emergency aid to Israel by cutting funding to the IRS, teeing up a collision with the White House and Democratic-controlled Senate over how to support a key U.S. ally.
The House GOP released a $14.3 billion standalone measure on Monday that would pay for aid to Israel by cutting the same amount in funding that was allocated to the IRS under the Inflation Reduction Act, one of President Biden's signature pieces of legislation.
"We're going to have pays-for in [the bill]," House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News on Monday. "We're not just going to print money and send it overseas."
The Republican bill sets up a battle over support for Israel, with Mr. Biden and Democrats in the Senate wanting to pair aid for Israel with tens of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, which some House Republicans oppose. The White House asked Congress for a $105 billion aid package two weeks ago, which included $14 billion for Israel and $61 billion related to Ukraine.
Johnson, who supports separating the aid packages, acknowledged that the cuts to the IRS would be unpopular among Democrats, but said he planned to call Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for a "direct" and "thoughtful conversation."

August 8, 2023-Senate Democrats on Sunday passed their climate, health and tax package, including nearly $80 billion in funding for the IRS. Part of President Joe Biden ’s agenda, the Inflation Reduction Act allocates $79.6 billion to the agency over the next 10 years.

Why does the IRS need $80 billion dollars? Seriously...
To: create mail in ballot mailboxes already filled up with democrat votes? To: FBI raid deplorable gramma and grandad because they are not registered democrats?
What does the IRS (SEIU) do with 80 billion dollars? Become the FBI?

Yea! Another House Bill that’s going no where but will get our illustrious congressman on Fox News!

So, just give them the money?

Probably not going to get the votes needed, however he's right we cannot just keep printing money. We have to cut it from somewhere. Also we need to leave Ukraine on their own, we have given enough.

Same as the original request, now you want to talk seriously about a "budget" and not just spending, we can talk. That is the point.

A clean funding bill for "our greatest ally" that pays for itself by taking less than 20% of a ridiculous appropriation from a hated agency?
Don't be so sure.

We need a function where every single politician is up for reelection at once

exactly. Johnson is facing a mess.
remember in 2008 Obama said the car was in the ditch and he would drive it out?
he lied. the car was repoed.
why is it that both R's and D's GAVE billions to USA infrastructure and failed railroads? also to failed windmills at sea and electric cars?
USA streets/airports still look like shitholes. Obama put up green signs everywhere to say he built a sidewalk that was not needed.
they all spend money like drunken sailors on leave after a 9 month deployment.
Kev gave 80 BILLION to the IRS. Now Mikle has to go meet with Schumer and Biden and take the checkbook away with some concessions. he won't leave a debit card with them like Kev did as they all vacay for 6 weeks.
what will DC look like with legislatures legislating? lawfare and the chamber of commerce writes the bills they have to pass to see what is in them.
they were elected to legislate, so called brilliant minds in finance & law. they aren't elected to only pass bills they write to give themselves a raise and collect their slush funds.

All the government spending gets put in bank accounts of government contractors which gets funneled back to politicians family. Nothing gets built unless it’s a private sector business doing the building.

um - looks like no $$$$ going no where the House doesn't want it to go.
as is the function of the House.

Whether or not he can get the support and votes needed, it's good to see him pushing in the right direction also exposing Rino's who vote against the sensible idea.
It's a good move. "I'll not fight your support for Israel, but the money's coming out of Biden's ludicrous spending increase for the IRS".

Did Israel ask us for $14.3 billion? I can't find the source for that. One thing i like about this is Biden's voters will not be happy about him signing a bill giving money to Israel. Personally, i think we should give the 14.3 billion to Ukraine with restrictions.
