Sorry for linking a liberal immigration lawyer, but they are melting down about this. Congress closing the asylum system loophole is probably the most important step to stop people from crossing illegally

I agree.
My point is that I'm thinking the GOP purposefully put something both unpalatable and conservative "red meat" in this bill with the intent to have it slapped down.
There are ways to amend the system short of having the most desperate and needy come up with an insurmountable amount of money... I believe they made it extreme on purpose, much like Lindsey Graham going on the airwaves before midterms talking a nationwide abortion ban. They are shitting the bed on purpose.

This was the final straw for me - when he did this I lost it - haven't given a shite about him since.
He's only good for SCOTUS nominations now.

Baby step indeed. Let's stride towards returning them. No reason asylum systems is a "path to citizenship". Which I know is the Dems plan. Just get them on our soil and "path to citizenship"
