Local hospitals are nearing capacity as COVID-19 cases continue to surge, and are preparing to start sending patients to other spaces to make room for new patients.

Novant Health has seen a nearly 1,600% increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the last six weeks throughout all of its hospitals, according to a release from Novant-led New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Today, more than 91% of COVID-19 patients in Novant's hospitals are not vaccinated, and the average age of admitted patients is the lowest it has been since the pandemic started, in the 40s rather than the 60s.

"We are concerned that we can't maintain care for our community," NHRMC Chief Clinical Officer West Paul told reporters Wednesday during a news conference.

NHRMC noted as of Wednesday about half of its intensive care unit patients had COVID-19 with expectations capacity would be reached soon. It's also experiencing a shortage in staff with many in quarantine from contracting the virus.

% are meaningless. Tired of this BS. Just cause you go from 2 to 20 doesn't mean its a crisis.

Maybe we need to find a better protocol than “take Tylenol, drink lots of fluids, get some rest, and go to the hospital if things get worse..”. That’s exactly what our primary care physician told both me and my wife and what our pediatrician told us to do for our daughter.

Congrats to the Chinese and Fauci gain of function studies in how they've perfected the virus to attack everyone, not just old people.

Hospitals short on vaccinated staff are at breaking point. Drop the mandatory vaccination and you can solve the problem they created.

If I had a dollar every time I heard that hospitals are at their “breaking points” I’d be able to buy all of Hunter Bidens artwork...then destroy it because it’s fricking terrible

I was not aware until now NC is offering $100 and $25 to whoever drives you there. To all first time vax getters.

You type in your zip and if you go to the place listed you get the money.

I just spoke to people that work in a rural hospital and this is not BS. Now as far as the vaxxed on vents numbers I have no idea.

I always get suspicious when they report % and don't provide the hard numbers for context.

I think the article said half the vent cases are covid.

Half the ICU. Seems high versus other surge areas. Hard to know without hard data.

it's definitely an issue here in the Montgomery region of Alabama. My family members mostly got prescribed antibiotics and steroids. the antibiotics definitely helped with the sinus headaches/infection that came with covid.

I couldn't care less. Turn off your TV and you'll never even know this problem exists.

The only people who care about this shite are old goats near death anyway.

The Vaxx Cult needs to worry about dangerous side effects.
