Parties in power have a harder time coming up with a platform than opposition parties, another reason why they tend to lose seats in midterms.

A strong economy and delivering on policy promises is the only thing that can help mitigate the losses.

As inept as the gop-e is they won’t lose over 60 seats like the Dems did with each of the last 2 dem presidents.

Jimmy carter is the last dem president not to lose 60 house seats in his first midterm

That was 39 years ago.

pretty incredible how trump, in just 10 months, introduced significant legislation that pulled the stock market and unemployment rate out of the downward spiral they'd been on the previous 8 years

Oh wait

There's a whole lot of fail in that post.

Soul searching? Like doubling down on identity politics? Let's see how that works. Guilt only works so long.

Per capita income is the same except NM replaces Kentucky at 46.

Well..I don't know about that, but we need to do something about all the M&M's coming over here to kill us.

And more bait and switch?? Federal dollars spent does not equal "Aid". Federal dollars are spent on military bases and government pensions etc. People tend to retire to warmer states. "I'm goin' to move north for the weather, when I retire.", is something that is not said too often.

Until this mentality is erased, Dems will continue to lose. Keep calling the same people who voted for Obama twice racist!

One party wants to lower taxes on working class Americans, make healthcare affordable by getting rid of Obamacare, stimulate our economy through corporate tax cuts, renegotiate trade deals to improve manufacturing jobs,

Folks may be getting the message that the tax cut actually isn't for working class Americans, that the attacks on Obamacare will increase their health costs and make their insurance less effective, and that so far we have said we would withdraw from trade deals but nothing has come out to replace them with "better" trade deals.

The Trump and GOP promises are empty.

The only thing holding Democrats back is their lack of objective focus and organization, largely due to absence of strong leadership. Those are big deficiencies which could be the primary reason republicans retain control in national politics.

Oh really. Please explain. You can start with what constitutes "working class Americans", how much is their annual income, and what is their effective tax percentage.

The impact in this tax proposal that will make the difference is not in lowering the tax percentage by 3%, it is eliminating the itemized deductions that reduce what is taxable income. Eliminate the deductions for state and local tax, etc, then you will have a higher taxable income to apply to the schedules. It is a shell game. In looking at it for my own tax structure, it looks like my taxes will be going up because of the elimination of deductions I take every year. I'm certainly middle class.
