Lots of grievances being aired in here.
I encourage you all to write letters to the editor of your local newspapers and see if it scratches the same itch for you.

I saw some thoughtful support. We all find what we’re looking for i suppose.

Crazy you're getting shite on in here for that letter.
You want a smaller, more localized, more responsive and representative government. This is a great thing. I'm not even arguing if the state got it right or wrong, because I don't know, but the idea of limited government, a closer government to the people, is what so many in here say they want, but for some reason you're getting downvoted into oblivion.
Tribalism, man. I get that it's part of human nature, but so is rational thought.

Let the record show that your "compassion" doesn't extend to people whom you don't like, even when said people were smeared and slandered.
4cubbies, I lnow that there are a couple of posters here who get off on white-knighting for you, but your passve/aggressive style of dumping on this board hasn't gone unnoticed by most of us. You're easily one of the biggest phonies on here.

Your entire premise is retarded, as are you.
You're trying to make it sound like New Orleans residents are under the rule of far off dictators (state legislators), in order to connect it to the founding of this country. (Founding Fathers throwing off the rule of a far off Monarchy)
While completely ignoring the fact that New Orleans residents can vote for said state legislators...
You retard.

No. But I can copy and paste it.
I have felt so sad and nihilistic about this. I know that my letter didn’t change anything and everything is still shite but at least it resonated with someone.

Cubbies is making Herstory with her letter

Or did they just vote on candidates to fill this newly created position?
The governor appointed someone to fill this newly created position. Voters were excluded.
So then none of this:
quote:
The issue is not whether the Legislature possessed the technical authority to act. The issue is whether elected officials should use decades-old constitutional language to circumvent the will of the people of New Orleans simply because they can.
Senator Jay Morris, who does not live in New Orleans and does not meaningfully engage with Orleans Parish Criminal Court, authored legislation reshaping a local institution for residents he does not represent. Legislators from across the state then imposed that decision on a parish whose voters had already spoken at the ballot box.
makes any sense. They didn't subvert the will of the voters who didn't even choose to have this position created. They simply eliminated a position that was newly created - all the voters did was choose from options to fill that position.
Your whole argument is moot. You'd have a point if the voters of the Parish chose to have this position created and then the governor stepped in to eliminate it, but that's not what happened.
