No, you’re not. Or you wouldn’t have identified Samford as a hotbed of it.

I didn’t say, “hotbed.” I said it was a stronghold of DEI and wokeness. It is. That’s accurate and factual. I understand your vocabulary is probably on the simpler side, but trust me when I tell you that there is a distinction between the first and latter words. I later changed, “stronghold,” to cesspool. It’s that, as well, and I thought conveyed the truth better, so I used it, instead.

Holy shite. That's sad. One of my best friends in the world's kid went there.

They are wholly tied to the Nashville music business, which we know Nashville-based country music is a bunch of fagots now

You’re either a very sheltered person or you have a Samford axe to grind. Or both.

There’s no gender issues at Samford. There’s no queer theory being taught at Samford. There’s no “whiteness is evil” as part of the curriculum, official or unofficial. Those three absences by themselves make it very, very far from some “stronghold” or “cesspool” of wokeness.

Didn’t say it wasn’t. I sent my sons into the world, I have no doubt the world will be better for it. Can’t shield em forever.

I had a few places I told them “I advise against that”.

Neither. I'm simply informed.

Here is a link to their profile on CriticalRace.org- a project by Legal Insurrection. I won't copy and paste the entirety, but I'll include a couple of notes of interest.

Critical Race Training In Education

quote:

Throughout the year a faculty reading group, which consisted of "fifteen faculty members across seven departments," convened to read and discuss "How to be an Antiracist, Teaching to Transgress and selected chapters from Performing Antiracist Pedagogy." The goal of the group "included learning from...scholars of historically oppressed or disadvantaged groups, and identifying conceptual resources and concrete practices that could be integrated into [the] classrooms."

quote:

In the 2022 Diversity Action Plan, Samford states the intent to craft “a framework for learning and practice that intentionally infuses aspects of racial justice and promotes harmony for all of God’s diverse creations" within their curriculum. Along this line, the plan incorporates a goal to “incorporate elements of racial justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion content into the core curriculum at Samford.”

quote:

The University presented a seminar to highlight the ways that the core curriculum engages with topics of race and diversity. Samford provost Michael Hardin stated "The courses of the curriculum present important works and ideas to help students address the enduring questions of justice, equity, law, freedom and their duties as citizens that bear centrally on the current demand for racial justice and equality.”

quote:

DEI training will now be a hiring requirement, since the school will “update the training of all new and internal hires to include diversity/inclusion training.”

quote:

The Howard College of Arts and Sciences released "A Pledge of Action and Support" standing against the "inequality and prejudice that frame so much of the daily experience of our African American brothers and sisters." Dean Tim Hall stated the leaders of the Howard College of Arts and Sciences "pledge to act and speak against the sinful curse of systemic racism."

HERE is the webpage for one Samford professor, Carol Anne Vaughn Cross. I don't have time to look through all of them.

quote:

Carol Ann Vaughn Cross studies social history at the intersection of religion, technology and culture, sex and gender.

Dr. Cross is the author several books and has been the speaker of numerous lectures and presentations. Among them, for example is, Telling the Stories of African American Missionaries and Deconstructing Missions Mythologies of Cultures of White Supremacy.

Here is a snippet from a description of the same:

quote:

Deconstructing missions' mythologies of white supremacy: This involves a critical examination of how mission work has been used to advance colonialist ideals and the belief in white cultural superiority. The critique identifies several problematic aspects:

White Savior Complex: The narrative that white missionaries are uniquely suited to "save" people in other nations, ignoring the agency and rich spiritual traditions of local communities.

Paternalism: The tendency for mission agencies to make decisions for their Black counterparts without input, hoarding power and knowledge within the white leadership structure.

Association with empire: How Christian mission efforts became intertwined with European and American colonial expansion and the resulting exploitation.

Confronting systemic racism: This analysis recognizes that African American missionaries faced significant institutional barriers rooted in white supremacy. They were often denied financial support and access to theological training by white-led denominations. When they were sent, it was sometimes under the misguided belief they were more resistant to tropical diseases, or so that colonizers could leverage their influence while still controlling their activities.

That's who is teaching your child.

One of my granddaughters graduated from Ms. College and is grad school right now. She goes to church every Sundy. A great Christian lady.

The other is a junior at BELLHAVEN. She’s also a great Christian woman. She attends church every Sunday.

They both attended A Christian High School.

I think it makes a difference.

It’s not mere admissions policies. They teach social justice as Biblical justice and perpetuate the entire systemic racism propaganda in policy, courses, and events. Samford is a cesspool of DEI and woke bullshite.

You must not know many kids that go there. I’ve got 4 nieces and nephews who have gone there and have met lots of their friends. It has to be one of the most conservative/religious universities in the US. What you are describing is contrary to everything I have observed. Maybe I’m just missing it.

In all sincerity, I’m sure your daughter will have a fine education when she graduates. If she can think for herself (and I’ve seen your posts and if she’s like you, I believe that she can), she’ll be fine. The campus and the students are great. Campus life is great. But, do keep an eye out and ask from time to time about what’s happening in class.

The administration, board, and faculty, however, have more than a few woke types- the religious woke types (think “He Gets Us,” commercials).

They’ve had the DEI and woke nonsense for years, now. After Trump’s Executive Orders regarding DEI at colleges and universities, they scrubbed their website and rebranded it and refuse to let it go. That’s what I mean by, “stronghold.” The President is a loon and the University isn’t going to give it up. It’s a hill upon which that moron insists he will die- and many other administrators and board members, there.

She went to a PCA high school. We’re used to some bleeding heart performative “we’re sorry we’re white” stuff. It just didn’t go far beyond the “let’s love black people to prove we love Jesus” which was fine with us.

With the political climate at these college campuses, is anyone else now strongly considering sending their children to a Christian university like liberty or something similar? I have a child in 8th grade that is more religious than I am, and the more I think about it, the more I want her to stay that way. With the way colleges are warping minds these days…………anyone else?

If I had kids, id first tell them not to go to college...but if he wanted to be a lawyer or doctor or something yes id say Liberty
