//Update//

Apparently yesterday a parachute malfunctioned (not uncommon) and the pallet killed 5 Palestinians on the ground.

I don’t what the chances of that are unless they were dropping over a very populated area.

Seems they should be dropping pallets on the beach?

Anyone with experience using air drops to supply denied areas knows four things:

1. They are by far the most expensive way to supply an area.

2. The capacity is severely limited compared to land and/or seaborne methods. Today the coalition dropped 38,000 meals. There are 2 million people in Gaze and the UN estimates at least a quarter of that are on the verge of starvation.

Also, that’s roughly the equivalent to 4 or 5 trucks. Just this past week the president of USAID was complaining that Egypt was only allowing 90 trucks a day. This won’t even register.

3. There is no way to ensure the aid will be directed to those who need it most. Once the pallets are out of the aircraft, chances are good Hamas is seizing them and using the food for their fighters.

4. It presents the most risk considering the minimal returns discussed above.

I do wonder if Israel conceded to the airdrops because of our foreign aid vetting requirements? Many politicians were highlighting the US is legally prohibited from supporting countries who refuse to allow aid to conflict zones.

At the same time, it’s ironic we are supplying Israel with weapons and then also providing the enemy food.

Didn't they just murder an Egyptian truck driver that was delivering aid over the weekend?

This is what happens when people find out after fricking around.

They voted Hamas in. Period.

Now they (very sadly) have to live with those consequences.

Airdropping supplies like this is a great way to get people killed. Hamas will most likely get all the drops, and they'll kill anyone that gets in their way. It is literally providing aid and comfort to the enemy. This is an amazingly stupid idea.

Not the point of this thread, but Hamas essentially banned elections after 2007. Hard to put any of this on the civilians.

Now determining who is a civilian is another thing.

I thought I would open this and it would say because the crates can’t land on all of them.

I kid. I kid. Maybe.

Israel didn’t choose to see its people murdered, women raped and its citizens held hostage. Hamas is responsible for this.

Only idiots would oppose the destruction of an evil enemy. We were attacked by the Japanese and destroyed their country. Then we helped them rebuild after the evil was stamped out. Was that wrong?

Hamas are despicable. Are you aware of what life was like for the average Palestinians in Jerusalem before October 2023? No one on either side deserves to be humiliated or tormented.

then the people in Palestine should immediately release all of the hostages and force their leader in Qatar to surrender for his war crimes.

Are you under the impression that regular people in Palestine are holding Israelis hostage? It’s religious extremists doing this

And what percentage of the pop. do you put in this category?!

If you care so much, why don't you let a bunch of homeless Palestinian men move in (and of course have sex with) you?

Israel is responsible for its own actions. There are rules of proportionality, but they just don’t care if they kill civilians. It’s probably desirable in their heads. Equal parts revenge, and the desire to make conditions so intolerable that people will leave.

They want to clear the strip, expel the Palestinians, and annex the land.

The New York Times found that zero cases were reported to officials, and they shelved their original reporting. It appears it was a lie. I guess the hardliners believed the attack wasn’t a sufficient casus belli.
