Here is the voting procedure in Trinidad

There are several elections and boundaries offices throughout the country. You go there, similar to the DMV, give them your info and they give you a national ID card. It clearly states whether you are a resident or a citizen.
At any time you can visit that office, and in the lobby are binders with everyone who is registered to vote in that area.
When it comes time for the election, to further ensure the lists are correct, all businesses in that area have to post the voter lists, thats right. I can go to the local bar a block from my house and they will have the voter list for that neighborhood clearly displayed.
You go to your polling station, show them your national ID, they check the list, you vote, and they then dip your finger in blue ink.
Thats how we do it in the third world
As a sidenote, this squatter bullshite in the states, the police would show up and if your national ID does not list that as your address they would haul your arse off to jail then and there.

We also have an election day, thats day. The law states any employer must give an employee two hours to vote, and if they are hourly workers, they must be paid for those two hours.

That's for a country that has a population of 1.2 million.
The US is a republic with 50 states plus territories and the states have the constitutional authority to run elections.
A national ID makes some sense, but it has been rejected multiple times in the past due to privacy and federal overreach concerns going back to at least WWII.

I don’t know how to process this new information because CNN and MSNOW told me that people of color can’t be racist.
Actually in all seriousness, I like the Trinidad procedure but I would substitute digital fingerprints for the blue ink part.

Current opposition to voting identification has nothing to do with privacy concerns and everything to do with preserving the ability to inject illegal votes.
