I'm not reading all of that but to answer your question, no. I'm an adult and act like one.

No.
I discovered my father dead in his bed. Went to work 12 hours later with a box of tissue to wipe my tears and blow my nose
Sad day? WTF

You mean like the day my son died? Yeah. I took that day.

I wouldn’t call it that, but I absolutely have. I’ve suffered from very serious clinical depression for which I seek treatment and take medication since my ex wife and I first separated. This depression occasionally manifests itself with physical symptoms when it gets bad enough. The stress was enough to cause me to contract shingles one time.
When those symptoms were too bad to function, I’d make up an excuse to not come into work and take a sick day. A big reason was the fact that I was usually really suicidal on those days, and didn’t trust myself to drive my car without purposely wrecking it. I even had one of my friends remove the sharp cooking knives from my house to keep myself from stabbing myself in the chest. I got close enough to draw blood more than once.
The frequency of these has declined significantly since I started taking a prescription regularly, but probably once every couple months, I get overwhelmed and stress myself until I’m physically sick and have to take a day.

Like when someone in your immediate family dies? That's a "sad day" right?

I'd imagine mental health is probably a lot more serious for men ironically
That’s because women will fake mental illness for attention, excuses for their behavior, and perks while men will hide their mental illness and attempt to suppress it to avoid attention and being ostracized. This active suppression and avoidance of treatment can cause problems to fester until they boil over into a much bigger problem.

I don’t have to tell anyone why I’m taking time off. Why do these people have to make everything so beta?

Because corporate culture demands documentation and betas demand attention and affirmation.

quote:
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin
Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it, it's your last chance anyhow
So always look on the bright side of death
just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of shite
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughin' as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

Hang in there Bob. Think about all the people that love you and need you. And, maybe more importantly, try some weed and slowly try to replace your script with that.

I was doing that for a while, but I lost my hookup on the low dose thc gummies that were working for me. Damn prohibition. They were just enough to make me less anxious and help focus without impacting my abilities to drive, work, function, etc.
Unfortunately, the only way to get them was from Colorado through the mail, hidden in luggage, or personally driven back in a car, all of which are extremely risky, so once my friend couldn’t get them anymore, I tried smoking, but that killed my throat. Dabs weren’t terrible, but were extremely labor intensive to produce. I wouldn’t mind the vape pen option, but none of my sources have been consistent with the quality of their carts, so I’ve largely just stuck with my prescription.

Yes, and understandable but not what the article implies.

This.
The article talks about having a ......... headache.
“Boss, I have a headache. I’m gonna take a sad day today. I’ll let you know if my headache still persists tomorrow.”

Lost a loved one a few years ago, and took the week off for funeral, etc.. My employer paid for 3 bereavement days I didn't know I had, and I used 2 of my PTO days.
No to having taken a "sad day" though.

I take a sad day whenever my wife and her boyfriend want me to stay home and watch the kids while they're out of town.

We are a mentally weak country that will find any excuse not to work. Only a matter of time before we're fully socialist.
