A sad day?

I don't think he would laugh at me, but I think my boss would be dumbfounded and genuinely not know how to respond if I called in and hold him I needed a mental health day because I was sad.

Business owners read this and... laugh our asses off. I feel like king-of-the-world when I get a 8 hours of sleep.

Because corporate culture demands documentation

I have worked for corporations for 20+ years. Sometimes pto requests are formal, some are informal. In both scenarios, I have never had to state the purpose of PTO. It’s none of their business.

Just call in sick. They don't need to know every detail of your life.

If they ask they're not w good employer in my opinion.

That’s because women will fake mental illness for attention, excuses for their behavior, and perks while men will hide their mental illness and attempt to suppress it to avoid attention and being ostracized. This active suppression and avoidance of treatment can cause problems to fester until they boil over into a much bigger problem

Without even looking I'd guess male suicides far outnumber female suicides.

Some of this is skewed by PTSD but even with that taken out I would think guys are much worse in that department.
