Extremely disturbing for both the act and the acquittal.

Why the frick are cops carrying Colt AR-15 rifles in a situation with one guy?

You're not at war with the public. This isn't enemy insurgents with body bombs.

Seriously..yeah. How did this guy get past any psychological "fingerprints"?

Yeah. Even if it is a component, it would still be a problem when if it wasn't. It's like focusing on a few bad calls in a game you lose by 40.

And while blacks would cry racism because whites would care more if it was more than a black issue, that's just human nature

People don't get mobilized by shite they think isn't a problem for them

defense was that while the guy was crawling one of his hands came up to his waist and the cop says he thought the dude was reaching for a gun

Uh...trigger happy cop has an AR-15 semi-auto rifle...and he can't wait to respond until he sees steel from the guy?

And after that sobbing and crying and obeying every command and being threatened with death, the guy is going to reach for some gun in his waisteband as he's crawling on his hands and knees with a semi-auto rifle pointed at him by a cop who is berating him?

What kind of cop thinks this guy in his state and after that interrogation could be going for a gun?

What kind of fricking morons do they hire? And your job isn't self-preseveration at ALL costs.

Cops get to use deadly force with the littlest of provocation.

Good thing firefighters don't get to a burning house and say frick this...I'm outta here...I ain't risking shite.

Why was the cop acting like he was dealing with a damn suicide bomber? Why didn't he approach the suspect while he was lying on the floor and go cuff him?

That cop deserves to die in prison.

Seriously...you have a rifle on him and he's on the ground...approach him with the rifle aimed on him...see he has no weapon and sit on his back if you want and cuff the guy.

WTF was that crawl to me in one specific way...but don't unlock your ankles while crawling and don't move your hands while trying to crawl.

That's like the deadly version of recite the Alphabet backwards while hopping on one foot DUI test.

The threat was reported as a rifle. He has no rifle.

And the shooter cop looks like he's 15 years old. Boys with Toys - Jerry Spence, Ruby Ridge.

Yup. Wasn’t even a real gun in the room, yet alone on the guy and it wasn’t this guy that was seen with the pellet gun that sparked the call to police.

For all intents and purposes - this was just some suuuuuper drunk dude who happened to be in the vicinity of someone that had something that a citizen thought was a gun. And in his super drunk and terrified state looks to have reflexively tried to fix his falling pants while being ordered to crawl cross legged with his hands in the air silently for no apparent reason

Most times I support a Cop's judgment dealing with a tense situation and mostly criminals. However, this kid looked to be complying w every command. It's inexcusable to not have told the guy to stay laying down w his arms streched forward while maintaining the gun on him to go cuff him. Instead he makes him do this awkward/weird crawl hoping he messed up death game.

I don't have any issue with a cop being armed with a rifle. A pistol would have killed the guy just as quickly.

I don't have a problem with the cops making the suspects move forward. The needed to clear the door to cuff them in a safe location.

I don't care the officer was yelling and sounding like a dick. Put fear in the suspect and he is less likely to go for a gun.

The only problem I have with his actions is him pulling the fricking trigger.

What the frick did that dumbass cop think was going to happen??? The girl messed up once. The guy messed up twice!

Both fell short in that cops eyes and in that situation a shite ton of people would have died while TRYING to obey a dick.

Well you aren't supposed to give up the booty that easily to anyone with a gun or any law enforcement official. They are people too and are capable of doing things just as bad as any Criminal. Maybe pull your head out of your arse

I made essentially the same comment in another thread on this. I cannot defend this at all.

But this event does NOT say 'cops are murderers' - it says THIS cop is bad.

If there is going to be 'outrage' over bad cops, this should be the example;le held up - not that stupid BLM bullshite,

In case no one has said it yet:

The shooting officer had been on the force less than two years and he was given swat tactical gear and an AR15 and sent in as point man to a public hotel to lead a raid in a situation with no Intel.

That's it terrifyingly insane.

It takes 3-5 years and 2 separate training stages to become a licensed plumber in this county but with less than 2 years police training well give you an AR15 and set you loose on the public.

Forget the racial aspects and the did he put his hand behind his back nonsense. Just focus on how this situation clearly and precisely shows how grossly negligent and incompetent our police departments are.

Then consider the fact that his police chief and superintendent testified that he was a perfect example of their training and he followed it to a tee.

Further, the officer who literally (yes this is the correct use of that word) commanded the crying and drunken victim, who was begging for his life, to:

"put his hands straight in the air and cross his left ankle over his right ankle and then crawl on his knees while keeping his hands up and his ankles crossed while ignoring all instincts to balance himself and if he faultered or moved his hands or fell he would be shot dead immediately"

Was also testified to be following department protocol effectively.

TL;DR:

I today's America you aren't qualified to unclog a toilet with 3 full years of plumbing training and apprenticeships, but you are completely qualified to handle an AR15 in a dangerous blind swat tactical event.
