Why was that cop even using a rifle in that scenario?

That was a murder

Well the video was just released today, and I’ve seen it’s multiple times since arriving home 2 hours ago.

With this video and the fact that it took essentially two trials to convict the officer who shot the fleeing man the back, it’s clear that these trials are a waste of time and they are above the law. Unfotunately, this is a societal issue that has been been made into solely a racial issue which does a disservice to a a problem on a much larger scale.

I've been saying this for a long time. Letting this be a race issue is preventing it from getting solved

This is why being around cops makes me nervous. You never know if you have a twit who could interpret almost anything as "fearing for his life" and do something like this

Just listen to how the pig screamed commands to the poor kid. You could hell be was getting off on the power in the most sadistic way possible. Truly scary that someone like that can walk around with a gun and a badge and free reign to end your life without repercussion.

Having family in law enforcement, I've met plenty of cops who consider themselves "operators" and not public servants. What I don't understand is how a jury could possibly acquit this scumbag.

Yeah the poor guy was probable confused as hell.

This one pissed me off too. The verdict was that the cop acted reasonably

I can't imagine the sheer terror of being in that position and knowing one inadvertent move could cost you your life.
The poor guy was begging for his life and the cop just kept threatening to shoot him, which had to only make that guy that much more nervous.

Just the fact that he kept escalating it is bad enough, even before shooting him. It’s as if saying that you fearing your life, no matter how ridiculous, is an automatic justification.

The “officer safety” bullshite has been one of the main grounds for eroding the Fourth and Fifth Amendment. Who cares about constitutional rights when a cop could be scared?

To be fair the guy didn't look like a criminal but if the cop shot him I back the badge.

Yep. Thin blue line. These are trained professionals that know when to shoot people. As I've never had on the job shoot people training who am I to judge?

I don't want to judge based on color...blue, black..sometimes black and blue. Whatever. I've never had any "on the job" training shooting people, but some are just naturals, like baseball players.

Why the frick are cops carrying Colt AR-15 rifles in a situation with one guy?

You're not at war with the public. This isn't enemy insurgents with body bombs.

Yeah. Even if it is a component, it would still be a problem when if it wasn't. It's like focusing on a few bad calls in a game you lose by 40.
