A cease fire would be some sort of treaty with Iran IMO. If they agreed to a cease fire, then resumed, it may give Iran a justifiable reason (in their head) to get involved.
Unfortunately, those hostages are dead one way or the other. The ugly truth is the best you can offer them is a quick death.

You of course make all efforts you can to get those hostages to safety, but the reality is in war the entire of point is death. That doesnt mean just soldiers it means the common people too. I am not too up to date or know much about how or where they are being kept and under how strict security, etc. So short of some mossad uncovering of the intel necessarily needed for it and the results even rendering it somewhat viable its likely their only chance of survival is a quick surgical strike by the most elite of Israel soldiers. Which imo isnt very likely because those conditions Hamas isnt even stupid enough to allow. So yeah they will probably die.

This was Hamas’ strategy - go in, inflict a bunch of damage and death (aka terror), then wait a little while and act “reasonable”.

I would literally wait until their loud arse annoying prayer call blast out 5 times a day annoying everyone and drown it out with missiles and small arms fire each time returning as many to the dirt and Allah as possible
