Now maybe that's an apples to oranges comparison, but it's what he offered.
It is an apples to oranges comparison. If I read this correctly, he's referring to respiratory CO2 resorption within confines of a spacecraft environment. However, he's also 100% correct re: "Man made global warming: bullshite."

I forgot how brave the first set of guys had to be to climb into one of those things after 3 of their buddies were burned alive.

CSB

The early astronauts (not dissing the current ones) literally didn't know if they would survive any of the trips.

Ah yes. We referred to Apollo 7 as the "Wally Walt and Don Show". NASA went overboard with myriads of seemingly trivial tasks to the extent that the crew shut down comm for a while. NASA got pissed and never assigned any of them to another mission but they did re-evaluate their crew loading procedures for future missions.

As an aside I got to wear one of Wally Shirras space suit during the Mercury program to evaluate whether some switches in the capsule could be effectively operated while inflated for one of the controller configurations we were designing for Gemini.

Ahhh nostalgia.

That’s really cool. He talked about how hard it is now for everyone on the space station because comms is 24/7, whereas theirs was only during 4-5% of a day.

Political positions aside, that was a very interesting story. I'd like to see more of this kind of story posted.

How did you remember everything he said word for word? Were you writing it down as he talked? A recording maybe?

He personally reads for the audio book version of his book. He said it took him almost four months to complete.

I manage strategic sales to military contractors, including aerospace, aviation and three letter federal agencies for my employer. I wouldn't be worth spit to my employer if I didn't listen and remember the conversations that I have with people who manage these operations.

They rarely make gentlemen like these anymore. That's a crying shame.
