I know Trump is mentioning fentanyl with regards to Canada but I think his focus is much more economic. Canada’s current existent is based on extracting dollars out of the US. Now, maybe they can get away from that and make Trump look stupid but I highly doubt it. They will feel the pain much sooner than the American consumer will. It's not a fair fight.

This seems like the straw man you've chosen to destroy. Sorry if I missed the group of people saying fentanyl was the sole reason for the tariffs. We know for a fact Trump never said it, so it's an odd point for you to focus your entire coy act on, in my opinion.
What "coy act"? The original tweet was about STARTING A TRADE WAR over 43 pounds of Fentanyl. My point was that, compared to the other combatant in the 25% trade war was Mexico, which poses a 400 x bigger Fentanyl threat than Canada. So, the idea that Fentanyl was the actual reason for the Canada tariff seemed absurd.
As to who said Fentanyl was the only reason for the tariff, in yesterday's press briefing Karoline Leavitt mentioned ONLY Fentanyl as the reason for the tariff.

Ok so we'll use this.
21,103 total seized lbs
Canada's proportion is 0.237%
Canada's proportionate "responsibility" (engaging in the silly emotional argument just for this post) is 189.5 deaths.
OP claims 43 lbs (not even 50 in the math above) can cause 10M deaths. 190 actually occurred, or 0.0019% of that 10M number.

You know what liberalism is! Don't avoid the real issue here.

What point are you trying to make? There's enough Fentanyl coming in through the northern border to kill 10MM people. Thats just a fact. DEA
You've shown that in spite of that, its only a small fraction of the total fentanyl coming in, which should terrify the frick out of everyone.
You've cited a source showing 30K lbs of fentanyl coming in - an amount that could theoretically kill all of humanity - then you scold others for being too emotional about the issue?

I literally spelled out my response to the emotional arguments in here, with math.
quote:
There's enough Fentanyl coming in through the northern border to kill 10MM people.
And yet, it doesn't, which means this argument is meant to trigger emotional reacts as it doesn't reflect reality.
If you don't believe me, see the math above.

Emotional reaction in real time.
Rational people understand why this should not terrify people who think rationally.
quote:

Which should show you the absurdity of thinking of it in those terms, and yet, you choose emotions.

Yes Mr. "you should have an emotional reaction about this" (see above quote for specific reference)

Nice defense of your emotional projection.
I guess being literally called out specifically and in real time has a silencing effect.
I can't wait for you to either bow out or tell me how promoting being "terrified" isn't promoting an emotional reaction

Thank you. As I said, the amount of fentanyl coming from Mexico is weighed in tons. 43 lbs is basically 0
43 is a shite load that can kill many. What happens at the Mexican border doesn’t change that.

But it doesn't, comparatively.

How about this? As a father, 30,000 lbs of fentanyl coming into my country every year concerns me very deeply. Some fat internet nobody thinking that this somehow makes me and others emotional is pretty meaningless to me.

Did you say this?

Is feeling "terror" an emotion, yes or no?
Did you also say this?
quote:
You've cited a source showing 30K lbs of fentanyl coming in - an amount that could theoretically kill all of humanity
Given humanity still is alive, this comment is irrational, yes or no?

Comparatively to zero, it’s a shite load. Facts.

this is arse logic though. Which is why I asked what your point was.
The massive presence of deadly thing "X" can NOT be a concern because its yet to kill enough people in some rando's opinion?
ergo If Russia had enough weapons aimed at us to obliterate the landmass, but only lobbed the occasional rocket our way, does a genuine concern and desire to fix that issue before its too late, make us all emotional? You saying so doesnt mean frick, so continually digging in on what amounts as an unsolicited opinion, seems odd unless there's a greater point you are trying to make.
Only a clown would claim that we dont have a fentanyl problem. And only an A-grade a-hole would try to shame people for being concerned about it. Yet here you are.

If everyone in your community threatens to shoot your entire family dead, but so far, they've only shot and killed your daughter, your concern over being shot is just "being dumb and emotional".
