Why can't people like winston318 ever be the victims of mass shootings? If you are going to shoot someone at least clean up some of the vermin of society

Impose a mass shooting tax on all semiautomatic weapons. Make it around 50k

And what do you do for those who purchase guns illegally and couldn't care less about your tax?

This first part takes the teeth right out of your reform.

I'm a lot more fearful of what the OP would do with government that what millennials will do with guns.

That would constitute infringement.
How so? A persons right to own the gun has not been taken away. Explain to me how this is infringing on their second amendment rights. The constitution doesnt say that a tax on arms can't be imposed

Power to tax is the power to destroy. Same reason we don’t tax churches.

Because the Second Amendment will raise it's weary head and some of the champions of this attempt to kill the Constitution will catch bullets at random riding around on their lawn mowers about as easily as liberals do it by attacking them and breaking their ribs. Easier actually since your grandma will be able to pull this off by walking up with a plate of cookies and lemonade and a .380. You can't stop it. Drones, tanks, stealth bombers, satellites, none of it beats the second amendment and this is the reality you live in whether you like it or not. I suggest you figure something a bit more realistic out that doesn't end so horribly bad for you.

It effectively ensures that a certain group of people (lower, lower middle class) are unable to exercise their right to bear arms. At the very least it would be extremely difficult for them. Sure they have the right, they just need to have money first.

Literacy tests for voting would be perfectly acceptable under your premise. Everyone would still have the right to vote, they just need to learn to read first.

You win a war of ideas by the validity and righteousness of your argument(s), not by veiled threats of violence.

Take that shite somewhere else.

So everyone can carry a 6 shooter in a holster instead of a sub compact semi auto personal defense gun?

Hell yea. I’d like to see some quick draw action in Chicago

If a simple ID is considered a tax to oppress the vote of poor people, why would you want them to not be able to protect their homes and family?

Are you cool with banning any engine over 25 horsepower?

That would save more lives than your proposed gun control legislation.

It's about saving lives, right? No one NEEDS an engine with more than 25hp. No one NEEDS to go fast.

Think of the lives saved. Think of the children.

If you don't agree with this, than you just need to hop on down off your high horse and stop acting like you give a frick about people dying.

no, it isn’t. The 2nd is there to keep the government from withdrawing from the war of ideas

And how exactly does it keep the government from withdrawing from the war of ideas?

Violence and resisting tyranny

But it’s not there for you to threaten fellow citizens with violence if they put forth a position you don’t like.
