If they haven't already, the State Department will claim that it is just a modification of the existing agreement. Courts are very deferential to Executive Power...that would probably be enough to stave off any lawsuit...but with D.C. judges you never know.

I don't want to overstate the case. It's DEFINITELY not done as far as the Danes are concerned. It still has to be ratified by the Danish "Folketing." The prime minister's party is ruling through a coalition. No party, including hers, is a majority.
As for the US, President Trump can avoid needing ratification by 2/3rds of the Senate by claiming that this is just a modification of the 1951 agreement.

If Trump said it then it’s true. He is the most powerful man in the world. None of that other bs matters. We own Greenland now the op needs to grow up and except reality and sit back and enjoy the greatest world leader work his magic. It’s been an amazing term so far to watch.

That's the kind of shite that makes the Danes hate us. American KIA in Afghanistan = 7.7 per million. Danish KIA in Afghanistan = 7.1 per million.
Yes, WE don't care that 43 Danes died to make sure that the Taliban remained in control of Afghanistan. The Danes cared about it. Their Parliament gets to vote on something that would make Trump look good.

If the chart accurately reflects the deal, then from a USA perspective, it would be a modification. Every part of it benefits us. Props to Trump on this.

Thanks for looking that up. With one eye on GameDay, I have been scrolling through Danish comments.
One of them said, "I don't know why all this was necessary. Trump could have gotten all this from the beginning if he had just asked nicely."
I think it's fair to say the deal WILL get done.
