That is significant changes to the prior agreement. I especially like the “duration” part. NATO no longer is a provision to the agreement.

That IS a big deal. I was a smart arse about this because I thought it was "permanent" in the same sense that the 1951 deal was. I was wrong.
Would like to see us withdraw from NATO.

Cheers. I am all in favor of drawing in our tentacles and focusing primarily on the Western Hemisphere with a few alliances with Eastern European, based countries.

This is historic. This is a PROMISE KEPT:
1. Greenland will forever be a part of the strategic defense area of North America, and it excludes any adversary from Greenland and the surrounding region
2. US has "COMPLETE and INDEPENDENT" ability to do what it "DEEMS NECESSARY" for security — that includes permanent access and basing rights
3. Non-NATO bases are BANNED from Greenland, and adversaries are BLOCKED from making investments that may threaten the US
4. The previous Greenland arrangement was severely upgraded: before, ANY country could've built a base there under certain circumstances. Not anymore.
5. The deal is to INFINITY and will never lapse, even if Greenland achieves full independence from Denmark
6. Greenland and Denmark are prevented from taking action to block the US from taking security measures we deem necessary — something the WH said was an issue in the past
Panama Canal-style problems now will never be an issue in Greenland
