Greatest speech ever.

In memory of the 50th anniversary of MLK's death I thought it would be appropriate for everyone to hear what a true leader sounds like. RFK had such class and was truly a man of the people. No doubt he would have been one of the greatest Presidents in our countries history. God Bless the Kennedys!

Say what you want about W, but his bullhorn speech and the joint session speech after were the 2 greatest.

Although most of admire MLK despite his being a severe whore monger, you really have to define your parameters of what you're looking for when you say "great" speech.

Great speech, but could be bulletproof if he (read congress) didn't drive up the debt during 8 years.

Martin Luther King's own "I Have A Dream" speech on March 28, 1963 is generally regarded as the greatest speech since Lincoln's Gettysburg address 100 years earlier.

I would put Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" and Churchill's "Never Surrender" speech up there at #1 and #2 respectively. But that's just my opinion.

The only way to not have deficits anymore is to raise taxes to Eisenhower-era levels. We can all bitch about foreign aid, the NEA, NPR, or even the defense budget.

Until we do something about direct transfers to individuals, there is no hope. In 1953, these accounted for 14% of federal outlays. In 2017, that number was 72%.

The next Civil War won't be over guns or speech. It will be stopping this runaway train.

falls drop by drop upon the heart,
until, in our own despair,
against our will,
comes wisdom
through the awful grace of God."

He offered logic,
"What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence or lawlessness, but love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice towards those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black."

. . . . and Indianapolis was one of the few major cities not to riot.



61 days later, RFK was dead.

2) peace through strength
3) against affirmative action
4) anti- communism
5) tax cuts

He would be considered a Republican today. Interesting that you think so highly of him.

Aaahhh, yes, the Kennedys. Still living the Camelot delusion, are you?!?!

Among their 'qualities:'

1. cheating on their wives (totally ignored when JFK did it, hashed and rehashed if done by Trump)

2. addicted to prescription medicines

3. lobotomize and institutionalize the 'inconvenient' daughter

4. drive drunk, kill your date by drowning and don't summon the police, never pay the price

5. alcoholism

And so much more. If JFK and RFK hadn't been assassinated, and if JFK hadn't been young and the first Catholic president (remind you of any other 'firsts?') the myth of the Kennedys would never have taken hold.
