Disability pays less than $800/month if you qualify.
And $885/week is almost double of average social security payments after giving into the system for 30 years.

And $855 is the state amount; with the federal $300 supplement there are people in Massachusetts getting $1,155 per week from the government to watch Netflix. That's $60,000 a year!

Good lord no wonder the lazy bums won't go back to work

I'm hoping that is with the 300 already added in.

Hoping but tough to tell in this clown world.

Plus they don’t have to pay rent because they can’t be evicted.

Let's be clear on something....

Those getting the max aren't your service workers or other lower tier workers. To get the max you made 100k or more.

The service/manual labor folks are only able to survive without going back to work because of the extra 300 a week and being able to skip out on rent. They are probably skimping by but to them that's better than working.

I was unemployed in 2015 and the benefit maxed out at $450 a week for California. So based off of that I’d have to assume that the numbers shown do not include the additional $300 which is frightening. No one is going to look for work if they could pull $948 weekly for doing nothing.

At $948/week they'll hire somebody to scrub their own toilet rather than go back to scrubbing toilets for minimum wage.

From December article on the stimulus:
quote:

The new stimulus bill is set to include $300 weekly supplements to state unemployment benefits, which is half the amount provided by the CARES Act. In a state like Massachusetts, which has the highest unemployment insurance payments in the country, this means the maximum benefits for unemployed workers could rise from $855 to $1,155 each week. In Arizona, the state with the lowest weekly unemployment benefits, the maximum weekly payment could total $540, up from $240.
