My thinking is this shouldn’t be a parent’s responsibility and something taught in the home.
The government should be in the business of this kind of stuff. They kind of suck at most everything they do, so why do you want the government teaching morality?

It's straight out of the left's playbook but it's getting upvoted bc prayer and pledge of allegiance.

The current court DID quietly overturn the Lemon test recently. What that means from a practical standpoint regarding what is ultimately permissible, I’m not sure.

This is already happening in a lot of Public Schools in rural areas.
Why are people down voting this post? It is happening in a lot more schools than people realize and is a good thing IMO.

What do you think the Pledge of Allegiance accomplishes?
From age 5 to 18 we said the pledge every morning before school and everyone just stood up, mumbled through it because we had to, and then sat back down for the rest of the day.
Do you want schools to force kids to pray in school? Send your kids to private school if you want that.
Are these really the issues you're concerned about for this state?

This is why I voted for Wags...
We have a metric shite ton of actual problems facing the state, and prayer in school is your top priority.
Yup...that'll keep highly skilled Louisiana graduates home after we pay for TOPS to educate them.

Do you really want kids having organized prayers to Satan in school? Because that is how you get organized prayers to Satan in school.

Would do more to fix those issues than tearing down statues
Are those our only two options?
Tear down statues or mandatory prayer in schools?
This is why we can't have nice things...

Why now all of a sudden is it some horrible idea to begin their day in prayer,
What prayer would you like to begin with? Which religion is it based on? What God is it praying to?
Are you OK with a rotation, where all religions get a turn to start the day with their prayer? Including potential Muslims, Hindus or even Satanists, etc?
quote:
allow them a time of silence to pray themselves or in groups?
This would be fine.

True, but it would help his voter base.
I suspect legislators will bring these types of bills and will get them tweaked to avoid lawsuits but still appeal to his base.

allow them to organize so you can see who needs to be destroyed.

just send your kid to a conservative private school and not to government schools and these are not issues because they pray and do the pledge every day.

It amazes me how many religious people push for prayer in school and can't connect the dots on how this is a horrible idea.
It's so myopic that they think "religion" equals their religion and "prayer" equals their prayers.
This is how we got the Pastafarians.
Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

His voting base wants jobs and more money first. Most just want the schools to be out of their children’s lives in relation to religion and social values.. get the economy in the right direction and more money into the average pocket and the moral values will follow.. poor and frustrated people lose their moral compass much easier in todays culture on the whole. Religion has to be derived from home and ones self to truly provide a path
