Congressional Republicans have begun discussing whether they may have to vote to block President Trump’s planned new tariffs on Mexico, potentially igniting a second standoff this year over Trump’s use of executive powers to circumvent Congress, people familiar with the talks said. The vote, which would be the GOP’s most dramatic act of defiance since Trump took office, could also have the effect of blocking billions of dollars in border wall funding that the president had announced in February when he declared a national emergency at the southern border, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the talks are private.

I saw a news report this morning that this negotiating tactic is working. Frick the republicans and Amash with HRC's dildo.

This is proof that the GOPe STILL doesn't get what the public expects of them and is instead beholden to multinational corporations. The public is good with some immigration but wants it done legally, such that immigrants to pay taxes, do not immediately jump on entitlements, and to otherwise be on the same playing field as Americans. The tariffs are only being used because it is the tool that he has available. If they would instead authorize funding for a wall and other border enforcement efforts, these tariffs wouldn't be considered.

If the GOP pursues an effort to block this, it will bite them in the a$$ big-time.

And everyone of these pos that vote to block it can and should be voted out as soon as the opportunity arises. Not sure how or why most of them are still there. If our elected officials will ban together and not do as the people want, we need to replace the whole lot of them.

I hope people realize that the ONLY reason that Trump is getting any push back from the GOP is due to Tom Donahue at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who is lobbying on behalf of Mexican cartels.

Oh, and guess who is taking over Tom Donahue's job at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce when he retires very soon?

This disgrace:

Never underestimate the ability of Congressional Republicans (particularly those in the United States Senate) to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Never.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the problem. That is who is lobbying the senators.
