Russia is eroding democracy by exploiting the nation’s divisions. To save it, Americans must begin working together.

Instead of debating whether or not Russia attempted to influence the 2016 elections—in ways that ranged from encouraging incorrect voting methods to promoting fake rallies to sharing false election stories—Americans should be debating how to counter this activity. The 2018 midterm elections are fast approaching, and the threat remains.

That's rich coming from The Atlantic, the MSM is probably the biggest source of division in America today.

Two things. First I would point out that it is impossible to counter unless you plan to turn the internet off

Second. The fact we have a de facto state-run Party media is a far bigger problem in the United States than any stupid memes the Russians can shove on Facebook and Twitter

Demonrats are far greater adversaries to the US than Russia ever dreamed of being.

So this is nothing more than a talking point without a goal.

Yeah, no shite, we know Russia is attempting to hack into US systems and thats why we have a huge network of agencies fighting it. Like they fight every other hacking attempt by god knows who in the world.

So what else do these people want the US to do huh? You want war?

No, They want to complain about how the president SHOULD go to war. So they can:

1) Criticize him when he obviously DOESNT go to war (because obviously thats fricking retarded)

and

2) If by some stupid miracle he DOES go to war, they can criticize him for starting a war with Russia like they always said he would.

Of course Russia is our Adversary, just like China is, Iran is, Saudi Arabia is, Mexico is, etc etc.

But that doesnt mean we go to war with them or completely cut ties because guess what, we're all stuck here on this rock together and its better to be adults and work together(slapping away backdoor espionage attempts that are obviously going to happen) and continue day to day trade (irrelevant of the feelings behind the shite eating grins we put on for diplomacy).

Because eating a big pile of diplomatic shite and continuing with everyday life is better than war over the DNC not protecting their fricking email server and being exposed for corrupt pieces of crap after losing to Donald Trump (of all people) for president

Exactly. Is there a more anti-freedom, pro deep-state group in existence?

I mostly agree with the first point with one exception. The one thing we absolutely should do is pass a law requiring all paid political messages on US-based social media platforms, whether it be by bots, paid posters, or Correct the Record, to be correctly identified as the sponsored content it is. We already require that the funding source be identified for political tv and radio ads, no reason internet ads should work any differently.

The biggest challenge would be that we don’t have an FCC type entity regulating the internet (for the best). But if we make the fine for violation high enough, it should dissuade at least a large chunk of the current sketchy activity. From all sides.

Agreed,,, if a portion of the electorate, and we know this is fact, remains uninformed enough to swallow false doctrine, there is little that can be done other than trying our best to counter the false narrative...
