Virginia has a huge Paperwork-American population.
It's over 12% foreign born. And that doesn't include the assorted 3rd Worlders who were born in the US.
Demographic replacement makes it almost impossible for Republicans to win. (Remember, California voted Republican a few decades ago.)

Sears was a shitty candidate and ran an even worse campaign. They brought Obama down to Virginia doing tours the last couple of weeks to prop up the Dems. This was a party-wide failure.
