This post started out as political, but the Holy Spirit spoke and calmed me. I’m not proselytizing, and I apologize if it comes across that way.

I’m a Christian. And my God requires that I love everyone. I may not like their behavior or decisions, but I want eternal life, peace, and happiness for every human soul that will ever exist.

I will also say, to my non-believing brothers and sisters, that I understand you have experiences and principles. I don’t agree with them, but I empathize. I’m not an expert, nor a judge. You’re still my brother and sister.

Life is fleeting. Focus on the important things.

God loves you. Your family and friends love you, and I love you.

Thank you brother. Some won’t agree but until one feels the grace of God they won’t understand. I feel nothing but compassion for those who are still wayward. They are dipshites but so was I once. No ill will towards the wayward. This life is short and eternity Is long. I hope everyone can find peace in Jesus.

I don’t know you, but I love you. And thank you.

I was a child of the 70’s and 80’s... I grew up on a lot of Jerry Clower. I think this is one of the most meaningful and beautiful things I’ve ever heard.

The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.
Isaiah 57:1-2

“ For on what account, tell me, do you thus weep for one departed? Because he was a bad man? You ought on that very account to be thankful, since the occasions of wickedness are now cut off. Because he was good and kind? If so, you ought to rejoice; since he has been soon removed, before wickedness had corrupted him: and he has gone away to a world where he stands ever secure, and there is no room even to mistrust a change. Because he was a youth? For that, too, praise Him who has taken him, because He has speedily called him to a better lot. Because he was an aged man? On this account, also, give thanks and glorify Him that has taken him. Be ashamed of your manner of burial. The singing of psalms, the prayers, the assembling of the [spiritual] fathers and brethren—all this is not that you may weep and lament and afflict yourselves, but that you may render thanks to Him who has taken the departed. For as when men are called to some high office multitudes with praises on their lips assemble to escort them at their departure to their stations, so do all with abundant praise join to send forward, as to greater honor, those of the pious who have departed.

Death is rest; a deliverance from the exhausting labors and cares of this world. When, then, thou seest a relative departing, yield not to despondency; give thyself to reflection; examine thy conscience; cherish the thought that after a little while this end awaits thee also. Be more considerate; let another’s death excite thee to salutary fear; shake off all indolence; examine your past deeds; quit your sins, and commence a happy change.

We differ from unbelievers in our estimate of things. The unbeliever surveys the heavens and worships it because he thinks it a divinity; he looks to the earth and makes himself a servant to it, and longs for the things of sense. But not so with us. We survey the Heaven, and admire Him that made it; for we believe it not to be a god, but a work of God. I look on the whole creation and am led by it to the Creator. He looks on wealth and longs for it with earnest desire; I look on wealth and contemn it. He sees poverty and laments; I see poverty and rejoice. I see things in one light; he in another.

Just so in regard to death. He sees a corpse and thinks of it as a corpse; I see a corpse and behold sleep rather than death. And as in regard to books, both learned persons and unlearned see them with the same eyes, but not with the same understanding—for to the unlearned the mere shapes of letters appear, while the learned discover the sense that lies within those letters; so in respect to affairs in general, we all see what takes place with the same eyes, but not with the same understanding and judgment. Since, therefore, in all other things we differ from them, shall we agree with them in our sentiments respecting death?

Consider to whom the departed has gone and take comfort. He has gone where Paul is, and Peter; and the whole company of the saints. Consider how he shall arise, and with what glory and splendor!”

The Blessings of Death
St. John Chrysostom

It’s a misnomer that God wants us to have happiness. He promises us joy, which is vastly different.
I’m sure the disciples didn’t experience happiness while being starved, persecuted, jailed and martyred, but God gave them an inner joy despite their circumstances.
The modern church teaches partitioners that God promises them happiness, and when times get tough and it doesn’t materialize, they get disillusioned and some lose faith.

My whole life I have believed in God. And heaven and hell. But I’m so broken these days I don’t know what to believe. More days then most, I want to put a gun to my head

Been there and then He stepped in, in the middle of it and put into my heart that I should live and tell others of my saving grace.

Let him in and give all your being to Him and He will direct your path away from those things giving you peace in knowing you have salvation now and forever in the shared Glory of Jesus Christ.

Into everyone's life shite falls. We often see others and think their lives are going so well but rarely do we see the secret strife they may be dealing with.

I don't know you nor know what you're going through, only that I've been through utter lows in my life as well and what kept me going was the firm belief that what I was going through would someday lead me to something better. It's not always going to be obvious and it's not always going to be quick (it took me 20 years) but it can happen.

Good luck to you.

My goodness, I have been there. The worst time was when I was 17 and had a tough bout with severe OCD. With the help of God, family, counseling, and meds...I overcame. I have helped many since then. The point is that apparently you have seen what you feel is the bottom. I promise you can get out of that realm, even if you see no purpose in life now, hang in there...you will.

Keep your faith, even if it has been beaten down. Try to cultivate it and regrow it then help others struggling. That alone should give you enough drive and purpose to press forward. The ONLY thing you can't overcome and thrive from is doing something stupid and selfish like ending it all. Don't go there.

If you need help, seek it. There's nothing to be ashamed of, at times we ALL need it. Best wishes and I will pray for a peace, happiness, and purpose to overwhelm you.

One of the main worries about A.I. taking over humanity is this: It may decide, in a completely altruistic fashion, that the way to end all human suffering, poverty and misery is to kill everyone. Religions sound very altruistic, too.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how this world works and how God's gift of free will works. Kobe's decision to board the helicopter, decisions the pilot made, they made the decisions, which wound up to be poor decisions on their own as free moral agents. What God does is surround those believers who perished with love that passes all understanding. He can't possibly love those who perished more, his love is already perfect. Maybe you need to work on your flawed premise instead.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I empathize.

It's only by the grace of GOD that I still walk this world. Really, it's fairly good for me because I work hard and so does my wife. We don't make a lot of money but we make enough. I pray almost nightly, which isn't enough, and I know I need to be closer to HIM.

I don't believe I will ever be broken of my faith, but the current political climate is the one thing that shakes my soul and leaves me wondering how to avoid inevitably becoming a nihilist.

It's pure good vs. evil in government... and the evil has rooted itself so deeply into our political paradigm that it truly has the high ground and the fort.

This nation will fall. It's going to happen sooner than later and it saddens me. But it's an inconvenient and unavoidable truth. It's terrible because in the last 10 years I've become what I consider to be a patriot of the highest order, and it's terrible watching the Deceiver undo all of the good we have accomplished as a nation.

All I can do is pray. And to the OP, thank you for your message and reminding me that prayer is what I can and should do- a lot mpre.

Even the devil believes in God.

Get on your knees, tell him you’re a sinner and you wish to repent your sins, tell him you accept the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ as a whole and complete sacrifice in exchange for your forgiveness for those sins. Ask him to send the Holy Spirit into your heart so that you could not just believe in God but so that you can experience a relationship with him and in your daily life. Then the joy of the Lord will be upon you.

Praying for you now

I don't know you at all or what you are going through but please do not do that. It may be dark where you are but there is light coming. I can't say when or how, but I also know what suicide does to those around you.

If you want to talk, PM me and I will send you my phone number. I am not a mental health professional, hell, I am not even that bright when it comes to how to deal with the BS life throws at us but I can listen and I can be there.

Your life is precious no matter what anyone may tell you. You are created in the image and likeness of the most loving God, why you can't hear him right now is a mystery but know that he is there, loving you, wanting what is best for you and so do many others.
