Probably because it is not a legislative branch issue. It is mainly a local and state issue, and the little bit of it that does fall within the realm of the federal government is an executive branch issue. Education curriculums are set by local school boards, state government, and the Department of Education. There is basically nothing that the legislative branch of the federal government can do to regarding education policy unless they have a veto proof majority in both houses. Since it was mathematically impossible for the GOP to win a veto proof majority in both houses and there were many other issues to focus on that were better issues to focus on.

The crt/education issue really hit home in VA due to all the shenanigans in Loudon county with the bathroom rapist and suppressing parental opposition.
Mcaulife ran an awful campaign which boosted youngkin as well.
For the 2022 midterms, education and crt just wasn’t a national issue. At most, certain congressional candidates could’ve focused on it.

Youngkin didn't use Trump. He stayed away from Trump for the most part.
Everybody knows this.
Trump probably included Youngkin is his endorsements to pad his numbers.
